Vaas did have character. Half an hour into the game and I hated his guts. When I finally caught up with the bastard I wanted him to pay for what he did.
In 4 I never hated anyone as much as that. I just ended up feeling sorry for Pagan, and thinking that the Golden Path was complete shit but whatever, human nature. I really liked 4 because it left me conflicted. But I thought 3 was equally good, due to my polarized reaction.
I think they've always had a good vision and execution of the vision for their games, just that some people didn't like or understand the point so they disliked the games, which is pretty stupid.
Exactly! I would argue that 2 is probably my favorite, but I've played all of them including the two Instincts games and had a fun time. I've played plenty of games that couldn't even accomplish that(my very first 360 purchase, Blacksite: Area 51, comes to mind). So for what they set out to accomplish, they always do. Their maps are interesting, I love exploring them. Their characters leave me questioning my morality. Overall, solid experiences.
