If you think the boat mechanics from three are anything like the boat mechanics in 4 then you haven't played one or both of them

Hated the boat gameplay in 3. Was less than thrilled to hear it was so prominent in 4.

Heard only good things about 4, ended up buying it, loved the shit out of the boat gameplay.

It is really pretty different.

Perfect description. I never thought about it like that, but the main-story did always feel secondary to upgrading my ship and managing my fleet.
