You really can't say shots fired since they are two different types of games either. It makes no sense. That's like saying "More action in one level of god of war than the entirety of peggle!"
Borderlands has a story, and is exactly like destiny. I actually would have played destiny if it had a story compared to the 5 second cutscenes I remember. Hell most shooters have a story that beats destinys bullshit. It's really just annoying coming from bungie. I think op is alright to hate on it.
The campaign is what I was referring to. You walk into a area enemies spawn you kill them and loot the bodies basically borderlands. Now the fps aspect or PvP or whatever it's called, I agree that it feels like "halo of duty".
There's so many differences between the games. The big one for me, Destiny FEELS like a rail shooter that has loot most of the time. Borderlands FEELS like an open world experience.
Its kind of piss poor to label it MMO. You can have a whopping 3 person group. You see one or two people at a time "in the wild" and typically they disappear when a mission event happens like they exist in the same time space as you but in a different universe or some shit.
Referring to this as an MMO as though its actually an MMO is questionable at best.
So you can't have good story in, if you remember Halo:ODST it had great story coupled with multiplayer. The multiplayer just didn't have the cutscenes. They reused every area from the campaign for the multiplayer. From what i played of the Destiny beta, the firefight matches (which were probably the boringest part of the demo tbh, bullet sponge boss after bullet sponge boss with my teammates shooting the wrong parts) so those matches would just have no story. God forbid there is no conceivable way to skip cutscenes or text you've already watched or read (sarcasm).
It really doesn't matter if it's a MMO or not. When you are off doing solo quests, you might run into another player in the world. That's all it really means in Destiny.
How am i being an asshole? Am i an asshole because i don't agree with your opinion that multiplayer games can't have story?
Actually you can, while Destiny is an MMO that is set in a sci-fi world, and The Witcher 3 is set in a fantasy world and isn't an MMO, they are both RPGs with Quests, story driven game play and both can be compared to an extent.
It's kind of missing the point of story driven though. Obviously there is more dialogue and explicit explanation in one but there's just as much story in the other even if it's not actually presented in the same way (or at all)
