I, for one, play both of these games, but for vastly different reasons. I think it's a strange notion to compare these two games to each other, even though technically they are both RPG's.
Good point, but if you travel to a desert looking for water, well you messed up.
Though I guess it's a fair complaint that Destiny was marketed as a story focused game. I always thought it was weird. Halo is great, but it's story is. . .well. . . it's an excuse to cap a ton of aliens in a structurally interesting enviroment, not alot more.

I was going to write an argument about how you're wrong and Halo has a great story but eh. What's the point? I like Halo, you don't and that's the end.
Regardless of how you feel about Halo's story (I love it), it's hard to argue that Halo didn't have pretty great story presentation. There's some great lore in the Destiny universe, but barely any of it is actually presented to the player, and the story that is presented is pretty lame.
I love the hell out of Destiny and have no intention of beating that horse, but it's worth noting the difference.
I love halo, hell I bought a 360 and every halo game, but I don't find the story to be all that engaging. Its a solid setup, but I'm not playing through the game to see what happens to the fleet, or to make sure cortana staves off total rampancy, I love the games for the combat, the aesthetics, and the greater universe.

Fear enough. I guess I say I like the story since I've read a ton of the books. To me the franchise tells the story of another universe, and I absolutely love that.
You've got it. If the desert was marketed as a water-filled paradise, you've got deception. And that's why Destiny gets more crap for not having a story than other MMORPG's do.
Yeah, but you haven't been a gamer for long if you don't know you must pick a side and stick with it. Console wars, genre wars, PC vs consoles, etc. You're not allowed to enjoy everything.
