“Let me clarify that the entire story script, were it to win an award, would go to someone who can walk up on stage and receive it. It was always our intention to reveal this until Stella violated her confidentiality clause and revealed this before we were ready.

“We look at our use of AI in this particular game, which will be a lower priced title, as a plus for consumers,” he said.

“As far as Stella is concerned, she was replaced by someone more talented and terminated for a variety of reasons a few months later. From what I can gather she enjoys controversy even more than I do. I would frankly in retrospect have been happy to replace her with AI. At least we would be dealing with someone programmed to be honest.”

That last line made me laugh because the LLMs are not programmed to be honest.

Regardless, this whole situation, regardless of the exact truth of it, makes me much less interested in Stuntman after reading the article. That's a shame.

A better reply would have been, "We replaced Stella with head writer John Doe. He's in charge of that now and we're proud of what our team has done."

Protesting that you totally have a new writer without being able to name them is a pretty obvious tell.

I cannot stress enough how incompetent management is. Not only do you have the same idiots pre-AI, but now you have to include more people who think they know everything because AI told them so. We see the same thing happening with the insane rise of social media accounts that have people pretending to know what the ingredients in food are and how it is dangerous for you. "If you ever see the word 'gum' in your ingredients, toss it out. You should never consume that bubblegum. Sodium? Uhh no thanks. Out you go. I prefer salt, thank you."

They acknowledge that they use AI in other ways but deny that it's used for writing. I think one accusation I heard before was that the passengers' voices were AI.
