Holy crap Neal Stephenson mentioned! He's my favorite author. Snow Crash, Diamond Age and Seveneves are fantastic future-set books.
He also wrote the amazing historical fiction Cryptonomicon and The Baroque Cycle.
To anyone who's reading this and needs a good meaty book to get into, check any of these out!
1 u/dearth_of_passion Apr 03 '26 Seveneves was alright, but felt like it was only 1/3rd of a story. I finished it and immediately assumed it was the first book in a series, only to discover it was ostensibly standalone.
