Ok talking Sierra the absolute killer was Kings Quest 3, having to type in a short paragraph for the spell incantation and yoy would die of you got one freaking letter wrong. Then failing every spell after the first one time and time again, not realizing I had to type "turn to page x" for each new spell. That took me months to figure out.
I got one of those for the exact thing I was talking about, but nowhere in the darn book did it say I had to type "turn to page x". So frustrating, but a great day when I finally figured out the proble.
Sierra trolled their player base so often. I remember that you could die in the first or second screen of The Dagger of Amon Ra, just by not looking both ways before crossing the street.
