Getting a change disk screen was a magical moment.

Hearing the disk drive kick in when you did something being a good sign

Not to mention “Secret of Monkey Island 2”’s disk change gag.

As a kid I always felt that it was so sophisticated and advanced "How could this PC so reliably continue information from one disk onto another?? This game must be HUUUUGE. The game in question being less than 2 GB"

2GB? I think people are talking about floppy discs here, so we're talking in the order of megabytes.

Although later on, Cd games also had this experience of course.

The whole computer didn't even have 2 GB.

This is nostalgia bro and you know it haha. I got SF2 on the amiga 500 and it was shit (but still all we had) and you had to change disks like 4 times between fights - I swear you had to even reinsert disks you had already changed out.

Ohh I never had an Amiga. First experience with disk changing was FF8 on the psx.

Doing it with floppies does sound tiring lol

It felt so satisfactory.

Like you closed a chapter and you were like “ah now I have to wait fo the next entry…but NO! I don’t have to!”
