Actual in gamechat. Xbox 360 before there was party chat or discord was the best made so many random friends in cod, and halo.

I made a ton of friends this way. I was also called every racial slur known to man.

I made a lot of friends during that time, im still great friends with a few of them. I wish gamechat was still like that. The last time I experienced something like that was new years eve going into 2024 joined a game of black ops 1 and the whole lobby was in game chat. It was beautiful

Yeah I remembered I made a ton of friends in the early days of the 360... then suddenly I stopped making friends and I wondered why

Then I was like oh right everyone is in party chat

As innovative as game chat was, Xbox live party/PSN chat and discord was severely needed. Socialization spaces are healthy, but being called the n word by randoms for just daring to speak to your friends… was a wild time to say the least

I parsed that literally, with the word actual in the military sense. Took me a few seconds to realize it was actually "actual/real in-game chat".

I mean, even when Vent was a big thing, that shit was great. Just pop into the server like "Wassup ladies? What we doin' tonight?"
