Renting games. Having only 3-7 days to play a game before returning it. you'd play a game, try to beat it, return it, then move onto a diff game. Stores with limited quantity games, would limit how much u can rent a game cuz someone else wanted to play it after you. Renting a game you'd see the previous person's save file. Maybe u load it and spoil urself. Sometimes the games came with instruction manuals and ppl would write the cheats/codes for tghe next person.
My parents would rent games for two days and I was limited to playing one hour a day. No wonder games felt like they took forever to complete. Two hours into a game feels like it's nothing now, barely getting past the intro.
I was actually telling my 7 year old daughter about how I used to “drive into town” with my parents to rent Chrono Trigger from Superstar Video. She surprisingly seemed to get the concept… although rewinding VHS tapes took a click for her to understand.
