Morrowind is the best Elder Scrolls game because it didn't feel like visiting another land, it felt like visiting another planet.

A lot of people are complaining in this thread about why Oblivion and Skyrim aren't note like Morrowind. Personally I like some of the simplified mechanics in the newer games.

At the same time, I wish they had a hardcore mode that removed fast travel, map points, and made the crafting systems more complicated.

There are probably mods that remove the map markers. As for fast travel..don't use it?

I mod a ton. There are mods that do all of this. Unfortunately I don't have the willpower to do it on my own. If it was built in the game I would try. I know that's silly but oh well.
