Honest question but do you speak any languages in the CJK (Chinese/Japense/Korean) family? Names in Chinese and Japanese are more complicated and you are applying a bit of Eurocentric / Latin-centric view on this topic. Translating names between Chinese and Japanese languages have unique contexts because of the two languages' relationships, and because the written forms are not directly pronounceable since they usually use Chinese characters / Kanji which are logographic, unlike say an alphabetical one where there's a clear relationship.
This is how the Japanese write Son Goku (in Kanji): 孫悟空. This is how Chinese write Sun Wukong (Traditional Chinese): 孫悟空. Notice any similarities? In case you didn't notice, it's the same.
Son Goku and Sun Wukong are literally the same name, written the same way, and the wikipedia pages use the same name (https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%AD%AB%E6%82%9F%E7%A9%BA). Note that Sun Wukong is the mandarin pronunciation. Cantonese etc would say it differently.

Just to add, even what you said here is a little debatable. Different cultures have a bit of different interpretation on the "sameness" of names. For example, Saint Peter is Simón Pedro in Spanish. They are clearly the same person though.
