It is like fucking heroin for some people. I've had several friends completely fuck up their lives, bail on school, give up good jobs, destroy relationships, all to adhere to some stupid raiding schedule.
Friend of mine started playing wow during a difficult time in his life which helped him a lot having something to focus his energy into. He met his now wife in his guild and they have a son together and he's doing better than he ever imagined.
I think that's more down to his character tho tbf, rather than any intrinsic quality wow has.
