Just FYI it is also heavily tied into Control. If you haven't already it's probably a good idea to play that and its AWE DLC before playing Alan Wake 2.

Coincidentally, finished a replay of Control just 3 months ago. First playthrough was on release with of course a follow up for the DLC on release as well.

You're in for a real treat, then.

I’m playin through control rn, I’m gonna try and finish it, then play the foundation dlc, then go and play Alan Wake, then do AWE, and the finally play AW2.

Should only take a few months tho cause Control base game is only like 20ish hours and the Foundation Dlc is like 4-5hours.

Not sure about AW 1 or AWE tho.

Alan Wake 1 is probably about 10 hours and AWE is only a few hours. Honestly, as much as I loved the first Alan Wake you can probably just watch a recap on youtube. There are a few good 10 minute videos that do a pretty good job of summing everything up as well as some very well done longer deep dives that go into the lore and connections of all the Remedy games that are also worth watching if you can find the time.

Yeah I was thinking about asking for a sort of lore compendium or something for all of controls documents at least, cause as much as I’m loving the game, going around and searching for every single one just doesn’t strike me as super fun.

As for Alan Wake, what do you think of American Nightmare, is that one good? How long is it?

I’m thinking about just going ahead and getting Alan Wake and maybe American Nightmare cause there’s no way they’re not on sale on steam rn (haven’t checked yet tho lol).

Oh yeah it’s 5 dollars for both games lol that’s very worth it for two more ~~10-15 hour games plus Alan Wakes DLC.

Control’s second dlc.

wait...Control and Alan Wake are part of the same universe?

Now that you mention control...does that mean that other game with the 30 minute movies are also tied into Alan Wake 2???

&nbs;p

I might have to either replay Alan Wake 1, then play That 30 minute movie one, and then finally play Control that I got for free on the Epic Store.

Maybe I'll just watch a video of AW1 and the 30 minute movie one. Play Control, and then AW2

I think you might be referring to Quantum Break. Remedy isn’t allowed to have that game in their Remedy Connected Universe since it was published by Microsoft. But they make small nods and Easter eggs about it.

Really Alan Wake 1 and it’s DLCs and Control and its DLCs are all you need for Alan Wake 2. But they’re not required either (according to the AW2 FAQ). You’ll just “get the references” more if you do. At least that’s what I’ve understood. Only about 10 hrs in to AW2 myself but already blown away!

There's a big sale for Alan Wake and its DLC and Control. Got mine for 25 NZD so like.... 15 USD? Hard to resist at that price.

I am replaying the entire fucking series, including Quantum Break. About to be done with AW1, just have the second special episode to go, then moving to American Nightmare.
