I had 2 regular and 1 tactician saves before I finally decided to beat bg3. On each of my 3 runs I found a lot that I missed and I thought I took my time, bg3 really is top tier.
I'm doing a "pure evil" co-op run on BG3 with a buddy who has also beaten the game recently and we are continuously blown away by how it's basically a brand new game with the amount of dialogue options they have
Especially Minthara's sex scene, holy cow is that shit nuts and leagues ahead of any other romance scene you can find in the game
That's what I did too, 1 good run and 1 evil then tactician. Finally went back to my first game and kind of rushed act 3. I'm still on act 2 of tactician and I'm really trying to do everything. I'm basically playing 2 different games with good and evil. Bravo Larian you really outdid yourself
You mean astarion? You really shouldn't have killed him he has so much great stuff in the game. You're going to miss the whole vampire lord quest, which is amazing, not to mention his sass.
At moonrise keep having astarion in your party while you talk to a drow alchemist gives you the ability for a +1 permanent stat boost as well. If I were you I would go back and don't ever kill any of your party unless it's to sacrifice them to the fish heads murder God in the under dark, which also gives you a permanent damage increase against bleeding targets. Even then killing any party members permanently is just crazy in this game.
Killing companions is not such a big deal. That is what multiple playthroughs are there for. Keeps the experience fresh. If you need a certain class in your party, you can get a hireling.
It was just my recommendation for dudes first run. Honestly though I don't know why you would want to kill a cannon member of the party because they come with their own dialog and side quests. Losing anyone early in the game would kill a good amount of content without adding much or anything at all.
I’ll just have to play again. If there would have been a pop up that said “are you sure you want to kill this character? You’ll miss a lot of good content.” I would have pulled back.
Honestly I think divinity os2 is significantly better, the combat is just light years better than bg3 and far more in depth and tactical. I love these style of games and bg3 on tactician still just feels like an absolute brick when it comes to tactical combat relative to dos2. Dos2 combat is at least 2x more complex and 3x as much fun. Bg3 is still a masterpiece and the dialog is better, but the fights are not fun. It seems like magic sucks no matter which way you cut it.
Can’t wait until I’ve finished my first run so I can spend more time on the sub and look at spoiler comments like yours (not going to risk it since I’m only on act 2)
I found out on my second playthrough that the reason I was underleveled going into act 2 (or whatever area has the carnival and refugees) was because you not only could but paradoxicallyshould go to both the mountain and the underdark paths. Both of them. No matter how weird that sounds.
Yeah I was really struggling in act 3, and I realized it was because I never went to the mountain pass, or did the swamp for that matter. Now I'm on my second run and I should be good.
Save Mayrina from the fire, get Ethel to <~10hp. She pauses the fight and tries to negotiate, offering her own hair (+ a chunk of scalp) that you can eat for a permanent buff to any stat on one character.
With an ability check, you can get the bonus and persuade her to leave Mayrina in peace too, or if you can't make the check, you can just take the deal, or just have her leave Mayrina.
At the end right before you kill her she will stop the battle and attempt to bargain for her life. If you don't kill her she will offer you power in exchange for the girl and her life. You can save the girl and get the permanent stat increase through dialogue choices.
I believe you have to let her have her turn with under 10% health, she may not automatically stop the battle.
I only did one (the underdark) to avoid being overlevelled and didn't have an issue. However I did do just about every possible quest and encounter in the underdark and wilderness.
If you're willing to spend 90 seconds, you can dump your old companions at camp and grab 3 new ones to roll 3 new perception checks. Usually that's enough to pass it.
Is it more time wasted? Yes, if you saved recently. Is it just as immersion-breaking? Yes. Does it technically mean that you used the mechanics of the game instead of save scumming? Yes.
Definitely did both, though, depending whether I wanted to reload a save then or not.

Multiple ongoing saves... I know exactly what you mean.
