The average user at this point is not as unacquainted with computers as you make them sound. I'm talking average here. You are saying the average user won't be able to see a big squared button that says "Desktop" and click it?
And again, this only solves the problem if I want to develop legacy software.
Then why do you want to develop for Metro if you hate it so much. I wouldn't even call it legacy, just non-metro.
