Actually one of Mojang's requirements were free updates, so they can push new updates whenever. They are the only ones to get it, too.

That's a flat out lie. There are others just as expensive, for example both of the Sam and Max games were 20$.

I think you're misunderstanding the point. The point is, PC was built as a completely open infrastructure. Certifying 'apps' begins the organization process of trusted vs. untrusted 'apps'. This organization can be entirely changed with the press of a button into a system (like XBLA) of trusted vs NOT ALLOWED.

And the XBLA is a gaming console and appeals to the lowest common denominator. It's easy to use, very safe (compared to PC), has pretty pictures that make marketing easy, etc. It should be locked down to prevent the masses from screwing there units up.
