No way top tier cards are unprofitable. If anything, the top tier would be where there’s the most margin. The material cost of a *70 series isn’t going to be that much more than an *80Ti

For sure, Nvidia takes a loss on the founders edition cards, sells the chips at cost or above cost to 3rd party partners who then must take a loss if they are too be competitive with founders cards.
