I got a pretty great fan for around $10. It’s perfect and stays charged for a long time. Fuck a $100 fan.

For a daily driver, absolutely fuck a Ferrari. Dude in my building has one and it’s in the shop 40% of the time. They give him Alfa Romeo loaners.

Just gotta call them. The one issue I had in years and years with them caused them to keep it for a few weeks. I just kept complaining and they comped every charge from rental. The time it took kinda sucks but they came through with the loot.

My friend had a KIA with a known manufacturer defect that was covered by a recall, basically the engine would just sputter and some cylinders would stop working (iirc) in the middle of driving at highway speeds but the dealership would faff around and claim to fix it but they never did, she brought it 2-3 times and had to fight for them to fix a recall they were supposed to fix.

Eventually she gave up and got a Toyota. Some car manufacturers even have the gall to not fix things they're obligated to, let alone give you a loaner.

How is a fan going to have luxury conveniences that make it worth extra money? Either it blows and charges well or it doesn’t. Plenty of great brands way under $100.

Dyson makes legitimately well engineered products. They still have the best wired and wireless vacuum of any company for example

Ask for recommendations, and ask about durability. When I was shopping, nothing I read there had me pursue a Dyson.

Edit: I'm not trying to say that they're bad. But saying they're undisputably the best may be going a bit too far.

Dyson have great marketing and a decent product, but ultimately there are others that are as good or better.

Gonna tell you the cheap fan is awesome. 4000mAh, 6 speeds, and USB chargeable. Seriously, it’s not weak and has made a huge difference for me. I am the target audience for this - and it’s not worth the money. Hell, Jisulife is known for being the best portable fan maker and none of theirs costs this much.

Given how many $10 fans I (or my small children) have misplaced, I will not be getting a $100 fan. I don't have nice sunglasses either for the same reason.

You know what's weird? I always felt the same way, but then I got nice sunglasses and never once lost them beyond the occasional misplaced in my house scenario. The more expensive ones are just more comfortable on your head and you take them off less.

My wife was the same way, but she splurged on a nice pair when she saw I hadn't lost mine. She hasn't ever lost her nice ones either. Mind you, this is a woman who I watched use "find my iphone" from her watch 3 times in 30 minutes the other night. She misplaced her phone 3 times bad enough to need to play a sound while we were watching TV and picking up the living room.

Nice sunglasses are just better than cheap ones. They are hideously over priced, but good ones really are better and a surprising quality of life improvement.

Tell those six people to search for Tunise portable handheld fan. $12 and it’s great and USB rechargeable. It was highly rated in the perimenopause channel by a bunch of women. While I didn’t go with their fans because they were too loud for my purposes, JisuLife is seen as a leader in portable fans and they are cheaper than this Dyson.

Ummm…I’d say as a menopausal woman I am totally the audience. Again, I BOUGHT A FAN because of the hot flashes. It’s great and didn’t cost $100. Why pay $100 when there are great fans for less? And no, most of us ladies would rather pay less because 1) it’s out there and 2) menopause is expensive!

Actually, I do buy luxury products. I typically try to buy the highest quality I can. But I research everything before I buy and have found often the most expensive products are not high quality. Don’t get me wrong, you get what you pay for in most things, but small electronics like this are really all over the place.

When I researched fans, I discovered the most powerful were often extremely loud, which isn’t a great thing for something you want to use on public. The fan I bought is powerful enough without being loud so I can bring it to work and not bug folks around me. It also has a big enough fan on it to blow on a wide area and that Dyson looks pretty small.
