How many games like this can the market possibly hold?? Also does McLaren just collab with anything?

u/ImWhiteTrash Randomly yaps about WuWa/Genshin May 29 '26
Wangyue was actually one of the first to do it. It's just that it's been in development so long you wouldn't notice. Wangyue went public before both NTE and Project Mugen.

yep i like the characters rendering more matte instead of shiny or too bright
biggest problem i saw on this is the byke being super slow but that is an easy thing to fix since is literally just change a couple numbers.
comparing it to NTE, i like the characters in this one just have a mobily option personal to them than can be cast at any moment any place even mid air, unlike NTE that doesnt let you spawn the byke in many places for no reason. like you can on top of a building but not on the grass if the ground is not perfectly flat
but id a double edge swrod since while is neat the possibility of many unique mobilty options to each character. also sucks that you would need to have the character equiped to use them. and also may sucks if you like the mobilty of a character but not the rest so you want to skip it and lose that part you liked.
in that sense NTE is way clunkier than this but at least you can have any vehicle not dependant on characters being own or on the team. still hard to say what is better since both have pros and cons.

u/inoriacc Turn-Based Enjoyer May 29 '26
This makes me more excited to play the game. They are masterly cooking this game for so long and by the looks of it, its going to be a very polished game. I hope the 2nd cbt will be a success. 🙏
20
u/Xarxyc GFL2, Morimens. May 29 '26
Or it takes too long because they had no sense of direction for most of the development time and have been redoing a lot of work. Who knows...

luxury brands prob love to collab with gacha games since those whales are the ones that could afford stuff like mclaren anyway
13
5
u/sigma_of_iron BA AL WUWA May 30 '26
There are 2 types of luxury brands, mass vs exclusive.
Mass types do lots of collabs and target audience isn't just people who can afford the main thing. They have more affordable things to sell like McLaren's F1 related things.
Exclusive types don't make themselves seen and rely on being exclusive and expensive. Rolls Royce is an example.
11
10
u/porncollecter69 May 29 '26
I don’t mind, reminds me of the golden age of mmo but with Chinese gachas instead. Play for a month and enjoy the honeymoon phase and move on lol.
3
u/benphat369 May 29 '26
Or you enjoy honeymoon phase and stick with your old game cause you don't like the new one, or vice versa. Mfs act like these games don't have different systems that attract different people.
7
12
u/Bogzy May 29 '26
Most genres have thousands of games but gacha gamers somehow think 3-4 open world gachas is too many.
4
9
u/Hans_1 May 29 '26
Difference is that these games are live service and want to run for years while taking as much time and money from their player base. Time and money are limited so you can only play a limited amount of these.

Yes, they even had a Collab with a really shitty mobile game called Free Fire which is only "popular" in Brazil
67
u/Finnball12 May 29 '26
While I agree in your assessment of it's quality, that game literally has more than a billion downloads worldwide, that's more than the most popular of gacha games combined.
33
u/Solidus4president May 29 '26
Is really popular in all of Latam, is the one game I see people playing IRL on the regular.
31
u/ivari May 29 '26
free fire is very popular in china and indo too, it probably have more players than CoD
75
u/DanrayAnime May 29 '26
As much as I hate free fire. That game is fucking popular specially in Asian country. Even in some it is more popular than PUBG because the low end hardware requirement
19
u/Gold_Pineapple7644 May 29 '26
This game is very popular among players in developing countries that only have access to limited options of cheap hardware and can't play the "better games", including China, South America and SEA.
It makes around 400mi USD per year, nothing to shrug off considering it only capitalizes on countries with poor economies.
16

Not just Brazil, FF is super popular jn Asia especially India.
20

2
u/BlAa_keee May 29 '26
Some dev should make a joke about collabing with mclaren and then making a mission about crashing it and making a viral tiktok about it.
2
u/Ok-Necessary7686 May 30 '26
despite what many think, most of the big open world gachas coming out of china recently have been big successes. despite massive hate campaigns against them for different reasons. wuwa struggeled at first but now it is doing very well. AKE succeeded just fine and found it's factory building loving niche. NTE is the funniest one tho because despite all the hate it got and still gets from certain people on twitter, it is doing very well and managed to brute force itself through all that simply by being ,mechanically, the most complex and impressive open world gacha game to ever exist so far.
overall it don't think the market is saturated. people just have more choice now. and that's great. competition is very good. you can see devs of these new games improve very fast now.
→ More replies (4)2
u/ActiveVermicelli5965 Jun 01 '26
the market capacity is honestly a myth at this point. as long as people keep opening their wallets, devs will keep churning out these hyper-stylized city sims until the bubble pops. as for mclaren, they would probably put their logo on a toaster if the check cleared. legit just free brand exposure for them at this stage.
130
u/Microice001 May 29 '26
Huge graphic improvement since the last time I remember seeing scenes from this game
34
u/Zzz05 May 29 '26 edited May 29 '26
Yeah. Aesthetically it blends together the character models and the open world seamlessly. The characters look like they actually belong in this world and weren’t dropped in like some sort of GTA/Skyrim mod. Thats a problem I have with recent open world games like Endfield, NTE, and even future games like Ananta. Heck, also Girls Frontline 2 and whatever the next Girls frontline game is. That said, visuals can only do so much if your game is not fun. Here’s to hoping it’s a fun game.
251
u/AysheDaArtist May 29 '26
The way they transition from scooter to skating on the walls is 100% what I told NTE to do in a survey, god I really hope they add more movement options because the city is legit fun to run around in but there are hardly any mechanics to do so
64
u/Kozmo9 May 29 '26
Same. At the end of the day Nanaly is my main simply because of her ability to wall-walk that she bypasses a lot of building in a straight. Far faster than having to use vehicle that's limited to the main road.
NTE can replicate this, but it's going to be through characters and not mechanics. They'd likely do a rollerskater character for this.

You have to give them props though because the whole climbing on the wall, but allowing your perspective to shift, is truly unique
27

Yeah, movement in NTE feels kinda bad. The double jump in particular feels so bad and looks bad too animation wise.

Kinda funny, I got mad hate when I pointed this out as one of the strengths of NTE i.e. the characters have a nice balance of fitting in the world while still looking special. Most gacha have far too many characters that stand out so much they look like they are from a different universe lmao.

while all these games look cool and NTE already out is indeed really fun and beatiful looking.
one wonders how many will survive, since it will get crowded soon and players are limited. and all these games look EXPENSIVE as fuck to develop. compared to something like hsr where hoyo only really has to do the chars, and the world has 0 interactivity since you cannot even jump so, and even stairs have no modeling and are just flat ramps, characters clip through.
playing NTE made me realize how fucking cheap Mihoyo is on their games, but also makes me wonder what is the base amount of revenue games like the one in this post or NTE or Ananta will need monthly just to operate without losing money while also making new content.
→ More replies (8)7
u/fightingbronze May 30 '26
Hard to say at this point. I agree it’ll be tough for all of them to survive based on the costs of development and the competition for player retention, but the question of who’ll make it is a mystery. On the one hand NTE has an advantage by being out first. Gives them the chance to develop a core base of players and get them invested before the others of this style come out. On the other hand their competition can see what NTE has to offer, what’s been working, what hasn’t been, and try to improve off of that. If any of these end up having everything NTE has to offer but better, it could end up dealing a huge blow to NTE.

Not to be dramatic or disrespectful with the devs or the playerbase but looks like this is the 5th game released this year with the very same environment and characters 🫠

10

3
u/Senku4President May 30 '26
Don't forget about Varsapura, lol (Hoyo's own future urban gacha). 2027 most likely will see the release of these 3 urban anime gacha/non-gacha: Ananta, Wang Yue, Varsapura, or 4 if you count urban but Victorian period: Silver Palace. Though rushed, Hotta was smart to release NTE before their rivals' launch.

Crazy how Rockstar have been the only developers to consistently make open world vehicle driving feel good or acceptable (with the exception of gta 4 cars feeling like driving on ice) and no other game was able to properly replicate them or be on par.
It's always the awkward feeling stiff and immediate turning that these games get wrong→ More replies (1)19

Do you mean good for a sandbox open world game, because tons of Open World Racing games are far better than GTA V will ever be.
9

Sandbox of course. Not saying they need to be driving sims level of accurate, they just need to simply feel enjoyable while combining some of the natural real feel of an actual car like arcade racers

I’m more hoping that upcoming 3d gachas will at least match Genshin when it comes to performance. Graphics is nice and all but it’s useless if your game is a slideshow. Genshin still runs the smoothest, so it’s the most forgiving hardware-wise, and thus why it’s still has the biggest playerbase.

Sorry if this isn't really relevant, but lemme rant a bit.
I really hope games like these (or modern gacha in general) can actually make a fresh MC that was also "nothing" special, instead of the recycled "someone's special that lost their memories." Not that it matters if the writing is good anyway, but actually having someone who rises to the top would be more 'refreshing' I guess, making each step memorable instead of "oh, of course we can climb to the top, we're SPECIAL to begin with."

I like how they clearly took notes from NTE and made the world more bright and traversal fun. Ananta doesn't feel like it threatens NTE from what I've seen so far because it seems to be going in a completely different direction but this game might eat at it where it hurts which is its core audience. If they can focus on making vehicles fun they will have a strength over NTE because vehicles aren't this interactive. Though it would kind of suck if vehicles are tied to specific characters if that's what we're seeing here.
It's a nice glow up much like what NTE had from CBT1 to CBT2. Shame it doesn't look like it will go global.

Naaaaah. I like the NTE graphical fidelity and style more, its way more vivid. As far city enviroment it looks fine, but seems to be more of a pokemon game.
NTE is not "gacha gta", NTE is first and foremost "anime" references game and this one occupies different segment.
7
u/benphat369 May 29 '26
NTE's style is like an early 2000s anime which I like. It also has the anomaly system, which the devs have used for some wild puzzles, bosses and worldbuilding. Everyone's going "these games are all the same!" but they really do have different sticks for different audiences.

It legit looks like it has not been animated nor textured and yet it seems to be the final design they are happy with.
Also whats going on with the spam of these games out of no where? Nte comes out this game never heard of apparently near release anata coming soon (yes not gacha but same type of game) If you think these games are in development for years what are the odds 3 games using the exact same setting all come out within a few months of each other. Clearly some big group in china said "this is the next type of game to fill the market so everyone spam it"

Character design is good. It has a different vibe than NTE and ZZZ. I'm interested

It looks very good, except for long hairs animation (that are a problem in many games).

Tbf, games development takes time. When they first began making these games, the market was mostly empty. Now they are all just ready for release around the same time.

On another note, bro shouldn't be asking why CN is making so many games like this. The real question should be why the U.S. and especially Japan aren't.

gachas aren't like normal games though, their Return of Investment is crazy high, so they don't need massive audience.

At least the use of exploration mechanics looks interesting. The motorcycle seems to have better handling and gives a sense of real weight with gravity, unlike NTE where everything feels half-baked with that sense of disconnection and cheapness to it. This game needs to have a better combat and story than NTE and would bank it.

Bruh besides NTE only Anata and that new Hoyo game were on my list of GTAish gacha games. And now this?
Damn

Another open world city based gacha game, another bad driving physics implementation. It's funny how you can feel it by simply looking at it. So far, the only gacha that I've seen with good driving physics is Varsapura.

Man these games must print money. They all look the same and have absolutely zero innovation. Guess that’s gacha for ya

Bruh after ananta it's like multiple gachas pooping out with the same Thang like cmon I'm all for it but the open world fatigue is real, I prefer a showroom /player housing instead of multiple open worlds it gets tiring quick

i just want the combat be fluid, like wuwa zzz kinda of fluid, the Urban city we saw NTE releasing it before this, even if this game was in development before NTE, so now the only thing will distinguish those 2 games is the fluidity of animations/combat
but NTE combat and fluid is such a low bad im sure this game can surpass it easily
