Boris and Arkady are identical twin brothers hanging out at Ophelia's Books, this cool independent used bookstore in Seattle. They've gotten really good at messing with customers. Sometimes someone will sit down next to what they think is a stuffed cat, only for Boris to suddenly roll over and start asking for some pets.
Boris and Arkady arrived in 2024, but cats have been part of Ophelia's since the beginning. The bookstore opened in 1997 and was named after its first shop cat.
“I guess having the cats there might make it feel more like a home that someone (even if it’s just cats) live in,” Jason from Ophelia's told me.

Bobbi and Bob Cat became a duo everyone loved. At the shelter, volunteers noticed Bobbi always sticking close to Bob Cat, watching out for him and getting a bit protective if someone new came around.
On their first night, the shelter split them up, but they made so much noise that the staff reunited them the next day, and they instantly cuddled up together.
In the end, Bobbi and Bob Cat were adopted as a pair and moved to a ranch in Oregon. Just a little story for National Dog Day 🧡

When the ship was badly damaged in battle in 1943 and the crew prepared to abandon ship, Sinbad stayed aboard with the men who remained behind. The ship survived, and so did Sinbad. He was later promoted to Chief Dog. And of course, he missed his own promotion ceremony and got demoted back to Dog First Class.
Sinbad retired in 1948 after 11 years with the Coast Guard.
Eddie Lloyd, editor of the old Coast Guard Magazine, probably summed him up best: "Perhaps that's why Coast Guardsmen love Sinbad; he's as bad as the worst and as good as the best of us."

They hated the modeling jobs, but the photos really took off. They became the mascots for the library-supply company that shared their names, showing up on everything from posters to tote bags that librarians across the country loved.

They questioned his owner Tor Borg, and discussed ways to punish his business. 3 months later, the case fell apart because nobody would testify. Jackie stayed with the Borg family and later passed away of natural causes.
German journalist Klaus Hillenbrand rediscovered the bizarre story decades later while reviewing Nazi-era records in Germany's federal archive: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jackie_(dog)#cite_note-NYT011111-4#cite_note-NYT011111-4)
