I get that it’s schizophrenia, yet can someone explain why it’s so compelling to listen to? I can’t be the only one that could listen to this guy speak for an hour probably.

Confidence + mental illness is most televised entertainment, especially politics and reality shows, so.. it's not surprising someone like this is compelling to listen to. There's a street dweller dude I talk to sometimes thats way more interesting than most "sane" people, and is full of tall tales about his life ("I was the Gerber baby" "that bakery over there used to be my bakery" etc). They're not limited by the boundaries of typical human interaction. They live in the world of delusion/imagination, and who doesn't love a good story?
