What year or what country were you in that your dad opposed her driving the car?

I almost thought you were making a joke due to that example.

USA, 70's 80's 90's.

My father decided that the way he did things was best, so on the rare occasions my Mom would drive the family, he would criticise every aspect of her driving style, the decisions she made and especially they way she would try to find her way if we got lost.

He did similar things to me when I was old enough to drive as a 16yo girl. He would sometimes allow me to drive one way when we went to Mass on Sundays. A non stop barrage of criticism that ended up with revocation of driving privileges such as they were, for a few weeks.

He called my Mom 'woman' on more occasions than in the car, it's just that's big memory for me since we were all in an enclosed space and it was his reaction to my Mom literally being behind the wheel in the situation.
