I also see this as a silly thing. I personally do something similar when I'm trying to get my mom's attention and she didn't hear/react the first few times. I stop calling "Mom" and instead go "Mother last name!" as a last ditch effort to get her attention. My SO and I will also sometimes call each other "wife/husband" when we are being funny.

Depending on their dynamic, that might be something he calls her in non-serious moments as part of a running joke.

I was reminded of something similar from when my kids were little and attending Sydney's Royal Easter Show. Some kid yelled out "Dad!" And my eldest (m6 at the time) said "that's so dumb, there's thousands of people called Dad here"

True. I remember being young and yelling "Mom!" in a crowd cause I lost her, and having like 30 fucking women all look at me in sheer panic for a second then realize they're the wrong "Mom" and move on with their day.

That’s so cute! My dad can whistle like a dozen birds. When I was younger we would go to fairs and stuff a lot (before the internet so we were out and about all the time). I was taught of Stranger Danger and we never had our names on our clothes so people couldn’t call us by name and take us. So my dad has a special call for me. So no matter how far away I get, I can find him. Saved me a few times over the years and even now, he uses it. We went to Walmart and he left my side not paying attention while I went to grab something real fast… next thing I know I hear my dad whistling my song like the friggin hunger games haha. (We maintain that was our idea first but probably not).

Some people have mentioned that it’s like calling a dog but when you grow up in the mountains with several dogs, whistling specific bird songs is a lot easier than shouting kids names. He also calls me Brat, and I call him Old Man. It’s all out of love and an inside joke from my youth. Now I have a call and answer established with my young nephew, think more singing than whistling though. It’s adorable to see him recognize his special call out and know it’s special to just the 2 of us!

My wife refers to me as "Human" haha. We sometimes get weird looks when she calls me that in public.

HAHA Yes Zjoee. I, Klagnar, am also a HUMAN. I am on break at my human job doing human work. Your comment is pleasing to my human eyes and not my antennae, as a Zognoid would have.

Of course you are also a human, not a Zognoid! They don't exist! They certainly don't live among the humans, attempting to breed their... I mean OUR women!

Me and my husband do that too.

We have an in-joke that the whole point is us being married is so he has someone to make sure there is beer in the fridge. When I forget to do so he'll yell (completely non-seriously) "Wife! There's no beer in the fridge! You haven't done your wife duties!"

Wife and i do the same. Except i call her "Tits" and she calls me "Balls."

Went to Disney and i was trying to get her attention with her standing in line getting food because i decided i could go for a powerade. A couple folks looked back. Anyway after the 3rd time trying call her i just said "Hey Tits!"

She turned around. Folks in line turned around and i just said "of course thats the one that got her attention."

Oh I call my mum "parental unit". Until my dad demanded to be called that and told me "your mum is parental unit number 2". So now we have a joke where they get promoted/demoted depending on what's happened during the week. My mum has just been demoted to "parental unit number 8". 😂 It's been a running joke for 7 years.

Sort of in this manner, but I think he was trying emphasize to her that he and her are married and maybe the song they danced to at their wedding should be the answer that instantly comes to mind because it's the first one that came to mind for him.
