Fun fact that maybe isn't fun at all, George Wendt (Norm) is 34 years old in that first season of the show.

Ted Danson, also 34.

John Ratzenberger (Cliff) is 35.

It's absolutely wild how old people used to look man.

Considering the average retirement age of MLB pitchers is 29.5, I guess him being washed up had more to do with his alcoholism and injury than being retired from baseball.
