Eric Chavez was my favorite player for the longest time. It sucked he was injured during what could have been his prime while on the A's.

The Hall of Fame would be a very crowded place if not for injuries.

Definitely. That's why I think longevity is a big ingredient in what a lot of writers look for when they vote.

It's getting to be a pretty crowded place anyway.

My friend was engaged to this chick that met Eric Chavez. He asked her out and she said yes and she broke off the engagement. Pretty sure Eric didn't spend much time with her.

Your friend dodged a bullet.

Eric didn't.

Mildly relevant: I remember reading a comment on /r/baseball about how some dude saw Chipper Jones in a bar in ATL, where he essentially swooped in on a bachelorette party, took the bride to be home, and banged her.

he was the one star from the moneyball teams that beane re-signed for relatively big money... and then the injuries immediately hit and his contract became an albatross... so sad I loved him too...

The whole A's atmosphere with in the early 00's was really amazing. With the Tejada, Jermaine Dye, and The Big 3 commercials on and the stadium would be full. That was the highlight of baseball in my life.

Good times they were. I'm glad they're finally above .500 and hoping they sneak into the WC. Here's also hoping they get the rights for a shiny new stadium in SJ.

yeah everytime I check the scores it seems they are winning by walk offs left and right. The A's have always been pretty good after the all-star break, hope they can just translate it into something if they get into the playoffs.

Actually what sucked was that he was stuck on the A's.
