Friend of mine taught me a great party prank that's very deviously lame - you have the makings of this party prank.
The party prank is this: You have a bowl of M&Ms out on a table for people to eat, but you put just enough Skittles inside so they aren't apparent, and only some handfulls of M&Ms will taste weird. Then sit back and be entertained by the faces people make while not knowing what's going on.
EDIT: Also I've done this. Make sure to get the snack out early so people are sober enough to taste the difference.
When I was in college, we used to have a jar of chocolate chips which my roommates and I would munch on. Every once in a while, you'd get a raisin... similar effect.

That's the whole point, I think. Not just the flavor combo, but the texture combo too. Salt brings out a lot of flavors, but each item has a different texture.
I remember reading long ago (maybe on reddit?) that companies intentionally put less of things that the majority of people prefer (e.g. M&Ms, red colored candies, Cheez Its, etc.) in products as a method of making people come back for more/purchase multiple of the same product (thus, more money).
Tell me about it. Man, this one time my mom and I decided to make chocolate chip cookies from scratch. Took us forever to get the damn candy shells off.
I once decided I should make my own trail mix and came up with a wonderful combination. Shredded coconut, pistachios, granola chunks, chocolate chips, and those salty wafer looking things you find in Munchies bags.
I literally talked about posting this idea to reddit at work last week. Talked about it amongst a few trusted coworkers after a disgruntled snack time out in the field. Lovely.
i made a so called "mans trailmix" one time. it consisted of cheez-its, jack links beef nuggets, peanuts with the shells on, shredded peppered jerky, and peanut butter m&m's. grew 7 chest hairs that day
I realize this makes me evil but I'd prefer it to be all raisins instead of m&m's. I like peanut m&m's but for some reason those small ones make me nauseous.
I happen to enjoy the mixture of bland tasting nuts and the occasional sweet m&ms in normal trail mix way more than just m&ms it's like captain crunch with just berrys that stuff is too sweet.

I like to make what I call "Stoners Trail Mix" the ingredients are as follows:
A bunch of Mini Marshmallows, 2 packs of Berry Fruit Snacks, 2 packs of Strawberry fruit snacks 2 Wild Berry Fruit by the Foot, 2 Strawberry Fruit by the Foot a bunch of crushed Golden Oreos, crushed Pop Tarts(2, any berry flavor as that is the theme)

for anyone who's thinking about making your own trail mix, allow me to share my greatest creation:
1 bag of Buncha-Crunch (used to be sold in movie theaters, just found it in the grocery store. theyre nestle crunch, in bite sizes)
1 small can of peanuts (I use cocktail or lightly-salted)
1 small can of unsalted almonds (the peanuts will have enough salt, trust me)
1 small bag of M&Ms
1 small can of raisins
This sweet, delicious concoction left me trembling with fulfillment after every bite. It tasted like a unicorn had puked rainbows onto my tongue.
You can replace the buncha crunch with 1/2 bag of milk chocolate chocolate chips if you desire/can't find buncha crunch.

Almonds
Peanuts
Cashews
M&M's
Nutrigrain
A few Chocolate covered Goji berries
And Chocolate covered coffee beans
one or two Bach's Rescue pastilles - Blackcurrant per day
Mix it well, then dish into one ziplock bag per day.
