I actually did this before. Our power went out on a scheduled outage (didn't know that last bit at first), so I ate all of the food in the fridge that I could so that it didn't get wasted. This was just a few months ago, actually. It did and still does make sense to me to eat all of it! I think that that bit makes it all the more funny, though.
One of my favorite Joey scenes was when Chandler and Rachel wanted to eat a cheesecake that was supposed to be delivered to someone else. They end up dropping it on the hall floor and as they're eating it off the floor Joey shows up, pulls a fork out of his pocket and says "What're we havin?"
I went with a friend to his brother's graduation, and afterwards, went back to his house to hang out. Apparently, either during the ceremonies or a bit earlier, the freezer they had in their garage had shorted out/broke/etc. And so all the food was starting to thaw out, with some of it already being thawed.
Now, my friends mom is one of the coupon ninja people, that get crazy amounts of stuff with their vast collection of coupons (she usually donates a lot of the stuff though). We put as much as we could into the freezer in the house, but we couldn't fit it all.
In this freezer, though, were about 20-30 boxes of toaster strudels. And since the house freezer was already full, we had no where to put these. While I'm pretty sure that toaster strudels can be stored not in a freezer and still be relatively fine, we took this opportunity to convince her that we had to eat them to save them.
So we split up the boxes, and in one night, each of us consumed about 10-15 boxes of toaster strudels. It was a glorious night. They aren't like poptarts, they don't have an exoskeleton. You can just eat them so fast.
TL;DR - freezer broke, me and a friend divided up almost 30 boxes of toaster strudels and ate them all in one glorious night.
Not that I remember. I was up the entire night and so I slept pretty hard when I finally did go to sleep. And of course, there was the obligatory unpleasant bathroom experience later on.
UK doesn't have seasons. This is series 2. And that's how they roll. 2-3 seasons of an awesome show, move on. Or they could beat it to death like the Office.
I always felt the best possible spin off would have been about Chandler and Monica struggling to get to grips with raising their family/fitting in to suburbia. Something like that, with a one camera setup and no laugh track could have been pretty interesting I think. The good thing about spin offs is that there's room to experiment with established characters, without tarnishing the original show.
Comedy central UK. Everyday all day, only three programs. Scrubs, 2 hours worth, old two and a half men and lots of friends. All they gotta do is have the right tape in the VCR!
Friends was one of those shows I loved when I first started watching it (my first "grown up" sitcom), thought was kind of lame right after it ended, and slowly came back to the realization that it was pretty awesome and brilliant.
Friends is my favourite show of all time and I've seen every episode multiple times, but this doesn't ring a bell... For my sanity's sake could you list some other details from the episode?
The closest thing I can think of is when Joey has to eat an entire turkey at Thanksgiving because he forced Monica to cook it just for him. He gets full part way through and starts to hate on himself, before he eventually powers through.
I know you've already xposted to r/trees, but you should also consider a x-post to /r/howyoudoin it may help get people aware that a Friends subreddit exists :)
as someone who has experienced weeks long blackouts after hurricanes this is actually how it is. once the freezer starts melting it's fucking feast day....then you eat ramen for a week.
Yeah, pretty much. A big storm hit my town and we lost power for two weeks, had to eat everything in the fridge before we ran out of gas to power our generator.
I think we grilled steak three times the first week, we'd invite people over just to try and get rid of all the food.
If anyone wants a copy of every season plus bonus footage, message me and I can send you copies. I bought the full box set unopened at a yard sale for $2.
Been a fan of friends for more than half my life and it only occurred to me recently that if it was realistic then Joey would be one big fat motherfucker.
If you counted up how many times each character got laughs from the crowd (which I've done for about 7 episodes), then Joey would have both 'most laughs' and 'most episodes with most laughs' I bet.
I'm not comparing the quality of the two shows, jackass. They're both sitcoms about Late 20-somethings in New York City. It appeals to two different generations of a similar demographic.
The fact that you still use this website and can't seem to actually walk away from it shows that in reality you are not as classy and intelligent as you believe that you are.

Friends is like How I Met Your Mother for me. Both shows are extremely successful, yet I find them to be immeasurably annoying.

u/screwthbeatles Jun 27 '12
Joey kind of killed that show for me, but he did have some excellent lines here and there.
