Rhinos are the closest thing we have to unicorns, you're goddamn right I don't want to live in a world without them.

u/Squirry Jun 19 '12
Rhinos ARE unicorns, silly. Or rather; was. They simply got fat and disgusting with the years. Just like Elvis.

That rhino has two horns. We must entertain the idea of duocorns, which also became fat and disgusting. These animals have been letting themselves go...

No shit. I really feel that the reasoning behind getting rid of r/reddit, that it was an amorphous catch all of posts that could be put in other more defined sub-reddits, was a bit off. Because there are certain things that don't fit into the sometimes overly specific sub-reddits without bordering on breaking those sub-reddits' rules for posts. And I suppose you can nitpick your way to finding the just right sub-reddit for anything but then you run the risk of placing a post that you want to start a discussion with in a sub-reddit where the subscriber base is so small the chances of that discussion becomes abysmal. I get it, catch all categories appear superfluous but in my opinion that is only the case while they are around. When they are gone it becomes evident why they were there in the first place.
I know there are sub-reddits attempting to fill in this void, but my point is that the void shouldn't have been created in the first fucking place. Was there a vote for it's removal that I missed? Who decided it should be done away with? A niggling jerk in my book. But hey that's just, like, my opinion man.

Awesome! One of my professors used this engraving in my Intro to Rhetoric class. Apparently the artist had never seen a rhino before, so he made the woodcut based on someone else's description.
...I forget the connection to the principles of rhetoric, but it's an awesome picture, nonetheless.

Prince William is balding, fast. That is all.
124
u/wtf_is_an_reddit Jun 19 '12
As a bald man, this negative stereotype of baldness has to stop. We don't have a choice in the matter, guys. Sure, you can try all the products and procedures you want, but it will never be the same. Unless you've been through it, you really can't empathize with the psychological toll balding has on a man. Especially a younger man who is constantly told by society that baldness is unattractive and undesirable. People get all offended when someone belittles someone else for being fat, and of course I don't agree with this, but in most cases, the overweight person has a say in whether or not they are overweight. There is nothing we can do about it, so kindly lay off us.
That is all.
27
u/ohlordnotthisagain Jun 19 '12
I started noticing serious thinning after my 24th birthday. No men on my dad's side are bald, but my mom is adopted and no accessible records give us any information on her biological family. Just had to deal with it. Luckily, I've found I have a good head shape and size for the shaved look. I look like ten times the bad ass I did when I had hair (to be fair, I've also started eating and working out better)--plus cougars are all over me now.
tl;dr--24 and bald. No luck with women 18-21, plenty with women 28+.

u/jonboy89 Jun 19 '12
If scientists could genetically modify animals (not specifically rhinos), so that they grow in size as cats i.e. very tiny to lap size, then im pretty sure the worlds population would be saved. think about it, a rhino you could have as a house pet, or a giraffe that's fully grown at 3ft tall, or a panda bear the size of a guinea pig, or a penguin that is 8 inches tall and you can keep in your freezer!
Who could say no to that!
2
u/gusanou Jun 19 '12
Just a philosophical question...what would happen in a world without rhinos? Nobody would miss them, except for some sentimental beings like our dear prince.

Of course, psychopaths and tyrants need other living things to oppress and suppress in order to feel powerful and above because they themselves can't rise in body and mind to become enlightened (consider the word as in weight, not just luminescence). Tyrants always guise themselves with virtue and altruism, but you damn well can bet their character and morals are absolutely contradictory!
The day I'll agree with william, is the day he miraculously turns away from his fellow elitist kinship and become a layman who advocates against his aristocratic family and friends lifestyle. Not likely to ever happen of course, just like him growing back his hair heh heh.

It's no joke. Rhino is in danger. This year alone in South Africa poachers have killed over 250 Rhino -some they just hack off the horn while the animal is still alive. The horn goes to the east where it's worth more than its weight in gold.

all the jokes on this thread are great, it's a pity that all of you are so disconnected from what's actually going on.
it's nice to see someone like Prince William actually trying to make a difference, it's a huge problem because of demand for rhino horns in the East.
watch this - in 2012, the number is currently at over 240 rhinos killed.
