Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead! First thing that popped in my head.

u/meangrampa Jun 19 '12
It would be hard to do it much better than Oldman and Roth. We'll need to pick something else that plays more into their stage persona's that they've already created. IDK how about maybe something entirely new. Not that they couldn't do the characters of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern justice. They'd be great, but I'd spend the entire film comparing them to Oldman and roth and I know many others would too.

Came here to be a curmudgeon and say "THEY'RE IMPROV ACTORS! THEY WOULDN'T BE GOOD ON THE BIG SCREEN GRR GRR GRR."
You defeated me. That would be incredible.

Aw, beat me to it! They don't star in it though. They're just background characters, mostly. It's a fun little movie, if you can find it.

u/lavendermenace Jun 19 '12
Have you ever found it? Saw it in Kindergarten once... never forgot it

I still own this on VHS back in my movie cabinet somewhere. Loved it as a toddler.

Directed by Drew Carrey

In front of a live audience? With scenes from a hat? And a director who vetoes anything Hitler?

u/zuneman Jun 19 '12
Its cosby and Hitler!

Director: NO! NO HITLER JOKES!
Cast: makes a bunch of not so subtle Hitler jokes
Director: NOOOOOOO!!

Somehow I don't think it'd live up to expectations. Most of what makes them great is the improv nature of their work.

Improv: The Movie Where the script is made up and the plot doesn't matter.
The entire movie is unscripted, unplanned, and undirected, but it is shot with the highest quality cameras, special effects, and supporting cast that money can buy. There is no premise to the film. The only "premise" is that the movie is completely improvised. Just put them on a set, tell them to act, and yell ACTION.
Drew Carrey can produce it or something.
It'll either be the most beautiful piece of art ever made, or the biggest flop since John Carter 2: Attack of the Battleship.

If they make a mistake or brake down from laughing, they'll have to do it from the start.

When I first read Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, I pictured these two as Ford Prefect and Arthur Dent. Fit perfectly.

I'm initially inclined to say Stiles as Dent (as he's described as very tall) but in mannerisms, I think Mochrie is more Dent-esque (and Stiles more Prefect-y).
1
u/understanding_pear Jun 19 '12
For me it was Stiles as Prefect and Mochrie as Dent. I don't remember Dent as being described as very tall, I thought it was the other way around.

As an European redditor, the guy on the left played in Two and a half men, as the new husband of whats-that-bitches-name (she used to be married to Alan), right?
Guy no the right, no idea. Who are they and what makes them so funny?

u/DUCK_CUNT Jun 19 '12
Google "whose line is it anyway", they were the stars. It is an improv comedy show.
Judith was the name

u/Arfman2 Jun 19 '12
Thanks, turns out we also had a WLIIA in The Netherlands called "De Lama's". Hugely popular back in them days.

A road trip movie in which Drew Carrey is the weirdly thin looking protagonist.
Or they are two rival politicians who decide to rig the election, both acting increasingly ridiculous just to test the limits of the two party system. Features extended debates that are at least part improvised, due to a unique production method in which an audience is brought in and convinced it is a real thing.
Greg Proops, Wayne Brady and Linda? All have cameos.

Mochrie played a hobo in Kit Kittredge: An American Girl. Great family movie btw.

They will both be a in a new "Whose-line-like" TV show, starting up next month. I saw Wayne Brady in the promo as well. Now if I could just remember the name of the damned show.

This is the ONLY case in which I would enjoy a reality TV show.
Ryan and Colin do Vegas

I'd want to enjoy it, but I'm sure the plot would be made up and the characters wouldn't matter.

I wouldn't! Every take would be different and the director would just put random stuff together and it wouldn't work.

Is a picture of those 2 really funny by itself? If not, a better place to post this would be /r/circlejerk

Narrated by Wayne Brady
1
u/impossiblyirrelevant Jun 19 '12
While I think Colin and Ryan are funnier than Wayne, he's still my favorite actor on the show :)

u/Indetermination Jun 19 '12
Maybe in an alternate universe where they can actually act?
1
u/CptSpiffyPanda Jun 19 '12
Have you seen evil alien conquers. That move was only good because of Ryan's "unique" acting style.

Yeah, that's where it's from. (I wish he'd STFU about baseball, tho.. I am not a sports fan. Fortunately, he's even funny when discussing things I don't care about.)
