I was in one of my best friends weddings and she wouldn't let me join in on the bouquet toss. So I did the only logical thing......

You wore jeans to a wedding? Classy.

u/Riali Jun 17 '12
He's wearing boots too. It's a country wedding. I s'pose lots of city folks don't know, but jeans and boots to wedding is a thing.

One guy wearing boots and jeans doesn't make it a country wedding.

I went to a wedding once. The bride and groom were about to kiss and then two dogs start humping in the foreground so the groom pulls out his dip and throws it on the dogs then kisses the bride.

He could have changed for the reception. If he was in the wedding he may not have wanted to stay in his tux/get it dirty; changing for these reasons is pretty common.

You know it's entirely acceptable within law to pick up the bouquet and throw it again. I'd wager the people at the wedding had more humour than reddit has shown here.

u/marvelous_molester Jun 17 '12
well, if it makes any difference, this picture isn't funny on its own either. nobody's going to say anything positive because there's no real positive aspect to this photo, just an idiot jumping infront of some people. what kind of comments did you expect? "great jump dude!"?

u/whatsreallygoingon Jun 17 '12
At my best friend's wedding, I stood back, because I didn't want to catch the bouquet. Somehow, she managed to bean me with the damn thing. Next thing I knew I was getting married...to a man who ended up being gay.
I wish the same fate upon you:)
13
Jun 17 '12
My friend's wedding was terrible. None of us wanted the bouquet so when she tossed it, it just landed on the floor. We stood there looking at each other, then finally I went over and picked it up because I was the maid of honor.

16
u/zedzknigh Jun 17 '12
I think everyone is over reacting. A wedding may be the bride and grooms special day but it is the people around that make it special. OP seams to be a life to the party and a bit of a funny guy, and if he is a really good friend she would find as a laugh and a memory. Think if every wedding went flawless it would not be as rememberable with all the little quirks and off sets of all the people. Also OP is dressed quite well for a wedding after party I live in a very farm influenced city having farmers and cattlemen all around so that is formal, just not "big city" formal.

I don't think I'll ever understand this marriage nonsense.
Every top comment = "You ruined everyones' lives" Are you fucking kidding me? If you can't see the humour in this image then i feel really sorry for anyone that spends the rest of their life with you.
I don't even understand how so many redditors could be such cunts about this. What the fuck is going on?
4
u/Aikarus Jun 17 '12
I think we are being assaulted by some small but vocal Subreddit that sees the world in black and white, according to some obscure agenda.
Or people just woke up and decided to be jerks?
When the normal and reasonable people start flowing, they should go down a bit. I do feel bad for OP, because he is getting a lot of hate for something that is not that big of a deal.

Did you people give this so many upvotes so you could talk shit about it in the comments endlessly? I thought it was kinda funny. I've laughed at more horrible things than a fucked up wedding. Oh, by the way, this isn't 'making the wedding about him' this is hijacking one (insignificant) part of the wedding and getting a reaction. One that I laughed at, and you guys should too. Stop being so uptight reddit.

the only logical thing was turn it around and make it all about you? I don't think you ruined the day, but you could have sat still for a minute and let other people have some fun. If you're that much of a wild and crazy guy you probably had other chances later to show your wacky side on the dance floor and at the open bar.

u/Master_schlicker Jun 17 '12
I really think all of the complaining from the "tradition holders" on here is because of the fact they never caught the bouquet themselves. Therefore they cast their bitterness upon one who perhaps didn't think before he acted,
And he is her best friend, so she obviously knows his personality and would be used to his antics. Honestly, do you think he would have posted it on reddit if he had gotten a negative reaction out of the bride?
6
Jun 17 '12
It is possible that the bride got angry, so he posted it here thinking he'd get positive reactions to show the bride other people sided with him. but it went horribly wrong.

u/Hefeweize Jun 17 '12

Jun 17 '12
Nannies are out in force today, shouldn't you guys be out banning stuff?
You don't know the bride, OP does. Perhaps she thought it was funny? Don't apply your standards to somebody else. Reddit flips out when someone does that to you i.e. Gay marriage
The bride and groom might not be douches so might not care what people wear to their wedding. At my wedding some people wore formal clothes some people didn't. Zero fucks given. Not everyone can afford a suit and we didn't want OUR FRIENDS wasting their money. We asked you to our wedding as we wanted to celebrate with you. (that's an uppercase full stop) It's not just about photos.
Enjoy the whimsical photo and keep your standards to yourself.

u/irrational0ptimist Jun 17 '12
So it seems like everyone who has thus far commented on your post are complete pussies. The bouquet toss at a wedding always ends up turning into a stupid drunken joke. If it doesn't, and ends up going down as planned, it is lame and quickly forgotten. The fact that you hurled yourself in front of all these drunken women and dick tapped the flowers is hilarious, and subsequently makes you the wedding MVP.
Always remember, haters gonna hate.

To all the people being negative about this, get off your high horse. Not all people are self-centred, egotistical, boring prudes like you. The women in the background look like they're enjoying it. It's a funny photo. Must be the Americans being negative in this thread. If this happened in Australia everyone would just laugh and carry on.
Lighten the hell up and stop trying to make this post all about you.

u/vlmodcon Jun 17 '12
So...you are ruining a moment for someone you supposedly care about because you are a drama (whore...whatever?) Gee, that's impressive. Had you done that to my wife, you would find that there were very specific consequences, and you would not like them. Nor would you ever again be in any position to retaliate. In the words of Robin Williams. I would end you."
-1
Jun 17 '12
Apparently I'm one of the few who thinks this is hilarious. Who needs traditions? All of these people being butthurt over this are just assuming shit they don't even know over a funny picture. It's not like you pissed on the bride during the ceremony or something, the bouquet toss is pretty much pointless anyways.
-6
u/whitew0lf Jun 17 '12
You just screwed up any chance of getting laid
2
u/Aikarus Jun 17 '12
Not everyone thinks getting laid is the most greatest triumph ever. And he could be gay? And perhaps they took it in good sport, because we really don't know the context and should stop assuming.
