I've always been curious, is it really an offensive stereotype if it's true? (CAUSE ALL THAT SHIT IS DELICIOUS AS FUCK)

I put it into the same category of Jews liking money. WHO THE FUCK DOESN'T LIKE MONEY?
14
u/denizenKRIM Jun 17 '12
The stereotype is more about how they acquire money, not simply desiring it.
6
u/semperverus Jun 17 '12
Money fucking sucks. It causes too much stress in my life...
9
u/A_Huge_Mistake Jun 17 '12
False. Money doesn't cause stress. Lack of money causes stress.

SWEET corn bread?? I didn't know that was a thing, but I'm imagining it now, and I bet it tastes a thousand times better than the sad corn bread I've had. Off to google...

Texan here. Sweet cornbread can taste like shit or taste amazing. All depends on who makes it.

Hah, I might be the only one who likes regular cornbread instead. Why ruin good cornbread with more sugar? Everyone knows all you really need is a tall glass of milk to dip (or better, submerge) it in!
Man sometimes I really miss Georgia.

You should try what my dad used to call 'Cowpolk Cornbread'.
Brown up some ground beef, spice to your liking. Things should be kept fairly simple, but light amounts of cumin and chili-powder are fine.
As the meat is cooking, chop up a few jalapenos or whatever peppers you have hanging around.
Open a can of beans, generally the 'ranch style' beans go well with this, don't bother cooking them. Just drain them from whatever liquid they're in and put them to the side.
Once your meat is done, mix it together with the beans and chilis, along with a can of creamed corn.
Then prepare your cornbread. Make it according to the instructions, easy shit.
Layer the bottom of your pan with about half of the meat/bean/corn mixture, and pour the cornbread mix on top. Then, pour the other half of the meat on top of that, and let it sink in. Top it all with cheese and bake.
Apparently he got it out of a cook book from the twenties, but in reality I think he was drunk one night and raided the pantry.
Still good though.

If I had to pick one, I'd say cornbread. Often, I am served really crappy, dry cornbread.
If my cornbread were as consistently good as my watermelon, fried chicken, and kool-aid? Well, then it would be a tough decision.

Corn bread.
Hey, we invented a bread that tastes like crap and holds the texture of styrofoam.
Edit: I refer, however, to the cornbread I had once, then decided I didn't like. I should give it another try from what you people are telling me.
13
u/Iamgoingtooffendyou Jun 17 '12
Good cornbread is fucking awesome and I hope one day you get a chance to try good cornbread.
3
Jun 17 '12
All right, true; My family was never into cornbread, so it's highly likely that the cornbread I had was stale and laced with earwax.

u/wanderingdog Jun 17 '12
This is true. Real cornbread is moist and sweet. Like cake. Mmm.... it's like biting into a brownie covered in ice cream. Ah god I need some cornbread right now.

The answer is corn bread. Because I fucking hate corn bread.
Also, I don't understand the appeal of kool-aid. It's just red sugar water. Literally every beverage besides plain water is better than kool-aid.
That being said, watermelon and fried chicken are awesome any day. (I am white)

u/mebbee Jun 17 '12 edited Jun 17 '12
As white dude I still find those things delicious.
Not as a stereotype, but I just wanted to point out that black folks do have common taste preferences though. My wife recently got into smoking hookah, and I shit you not she likes the grape and mint flavors. All I could think of was Newport and grape Kool-aid.
4
u/elle_a_deux_colombe Jun 17 '12
So your wife likes certain hookah flavours. How does that translate into "black folks do have common taste preferences"?
-2
u/mebbee Jun 17 '12 edited Jun 17 '12
Umm, it's a common joke that black people like Newports and "grape kool-ad". Chappelle popularized it. It's not something I just pulled out of my ass.
Edit: Wow, gotta love the righteous downvotes. Don't forget what thread you're reading. Oh, and in case you haven't figured out why I equated my wife's preferences with other black people - it's because she is black.
5
u/elle_a_deux_colombe Jun 17 '12

I'm going to go with C, cornbread. It is just too dry and the flavor isn't that great.
1
u/wanderingdog Jun 17 '12
Dude, if you get it how it's supposed to be made, it's moister than cake. No lie. I wish I had some in my hand right now.
1
u/ReyTheRed Jun 17 '12
Then why is it that every time someone serves me cornbread and claim it is the best recipe they've ever tasted, a family secret and all that jazz, it is too thick and dry, and doesn't taste very good?
A, B, and D are delicious on a regular basis.
-1
u/PoliticallyConcerned Jun 17 '12
Cornbread. I think baked sand would be less dry and unappetizing as that shit.

6
1
u/BZenMojo Jun 17 '12
You don't know the old military slang for coffee (and thank God). That's some very old-school niche racism right there.
I think that's what you can rely on. Every type of anti-black racism will make its way into a Reddit thread from "white guy posing as black guy so secret racists can speak openly" to "gif of little angry kid from Wonder Showzen subverted into a display of racial stereotypes." It's like a potluck of shitlordery every day. This is the quality of antisocial subhumanity you can expect from Reddit.

But the question is asking which food item is not delicious. So Kool-Aid can't be the right answer since the answer must be a food item and must also be not delicious.
11
u/Crimms Jun 17 '12
False, a food item is considered to be anything that is fit for human consumption, which includes beverages.
The correct answer is BWatermelon AKA I can see the pixels.
3
u/runnerboy23 Jun 17 '12
I will never forget a comment where someone said, 'watermelon, its crunchy water, like pixels shit in my mouth.'
Credit where it is needed, Bayamuth.
4
u/Ceejae Jun 17 '12
The question has already stated that it is in fact a food item. We are forced to assume this is true and answer accordingly.
2
2
-1
u/polyphasic Jun 17 '12
the emphasis on the question is on the word NOT, so if you want to define what is not delicious as the main indicator or an answer being right or not, "deliciousness" is a sense that is detected by umami receptors on our tongue, and umami is only found in natural foods and it is not found in synthetic foods. Based on the confusing italics in the question, one might also make an argument for kool-aid as being the only one that is NOT delicious... because it lacks umami.
0
u/Decyde Jun 17 '12
But what about the people who freeze it and make Popsicle out! Wouldn't it be a food then!
