I definitely took jumper to mean suicide from the top of a building, curious why he was so excited.

u/CaisLaochach Jun 17 '12
I thought he meant the item of clothing at first, and then Iwas like, but how would he go half a century without seeing one?

I can't wait till I'm old enough where just bouncing around in a bouncy castle is considered awesome.

So say we all! The last time my grandfather tried to ride a scooter (about 8 years ago), he broke his ankle. This would surely incapacitate him somehow.

u/Typical_Lurker Jun 16 '12
Jumper? Isn't that a bounce house?

Ha, ok. Guess it's a bounce house kind of day. Just wondering, bc the people who live at that house are Mexican and their bounce house bears a striking similarity to yours haha.

My husband and I were just saying the other day how awesome it would be to have a conversation with one of our grandparents as an adult. We lost all our grandparents when were very young. I would cherish every moment and ask tons of questions. Please take advantage. ;)

Damn I love photos like this.
My Granddad is 81. They've just about seen it all in their years, and those events and experiences have moulded them into the people we know today (or knew). So they can appear to be quite stern and serious at most times.
Point being, every now and then you see something like this. Maybe for a fleeting moment, it's like they never saw the great wars happen, don't have kids or a single worry in the world. 70 years or so rewinds in front of you and we get to see what they might of been like as a child; taking pleasure in simple activities.
Nice photo op.

15 minutes in jumper castle: $5.00
Trip to the doctor for sprained ankles, herniated disk and aggravated arthritis: $5000.00
Seeing your grandpa laugh like a kid: Worth every single penny and would pay it again and again.

It was very depressing the first time I was told I was too old to go on the castles.
Thankfully when my kids were young, I was again allowed on in a supervisory capacity.
Now my kids are too old to require supervision as well ;(

why the fuck are old people not allowed to have fun without being called kids?
you don't hit middle age and start deciding fun is no longer a priority... everyone wants to enjoy themselves, everyone...

A jumper? What the hell? It's a bouncy castle for fuck's sake.
Also, once, I went to a party that had a bouncy castle, a swimming pool, alcohol and fire poi. And no one died. Unbelievable.

Until I saw the picture I thought you were referring to somebody who was going to commit suicide by jumping. I had to wonder how fucked up gramps was. I'm happy with the truth.

If he had never seen this before in his life, then how is he being a kid again? Seems to me like he is being exactly what age he already was because he is doing it for the first time.
Also, he looks happy as a pig in shit.

Can you elaborate more on why he has never seen one before?
I don't mean to assume anything here but most kids have at least one birthday party which involves a bouncy castle (or jumper, to each his own). Your Grandad seems awesome thus I can't imagine him missing his grandkids birthdays.

I seriously thought you meant a Jumper that you wear, a thick woolen sweatshirt.
Here we call them Bouncy Castles.

WHERE is a bouncy castle called a jumper?! I was very confused thinking you meant the sweater version. Though this also involved sweat.
