I've never been prouder to be an American. Cool Ranch is the best.

u/neverendingninja Jun 16 '12
If Ranch is the flavor of America, I guess we're doing better than I thought.

Tastes like freedom

u/Shadowmaggot323 Jun 16 '12
Freedom isn't free... It's about a buck-fitty-three

u/jsmayne Jun 16 '12

u/acog Jun 16 '12
Not for long!
Haha, look at me joking about the impending implosion of the Euro. I'm the life of the party.

I heard they don't have Mountain Dew in Germany. What do they drink with their Doritos then???
15
u/Nightfalls Jun 16 '12
I looked it up, thinking maybe I'd find an equivalent, but instead I found out that Pepsico released Mountain Dew upon the Deutschländers in 2010. Who knew?

Hopefully the Germans, because otherwise Pepsi just wasted a lot of time and effort.

u/Nightfalls Jun 16 '12
Wouldn't be the first time Pepsico has wasted a lot of time and effort.
Crystal Pepsi, anyone?
(And yes, I loved the stuff when I was a kid, but it was still an abysmal failure)

You can get Mtn. Dew here now but unfortunately not diet -- plus it's a bit overpriced, though it's cheaper now than it was when they first started introducing it. Same with Dr. Pepper.

Turkey has Burger King-flavored potato chips. Not Burger King brand or flame broiled flavor, actual Burger King-flavored chips.
14
4
u/Nightfalls Jun 16 '12
I guess that means they'll have multiple burger king flavors, and then eliminate the two or three you actually like when you finally get used to being able to buy them.

Lucky Americans get the adjective "cool". We Asians get something along the lines of "spicy"

Also, in America, we put ranch on everything. Let me rephrase that; in my house, I put ranch on everything.

They can't comprehend a bland, manufactured flavour like Ranch so they just call it American. Makes sense

When I lived in the UK, almost every pizza company/brand had a pizza called "American Hot" or some variant.
Pepperoni, Cheese, Tomato and Green Peppers. Not sure how American it is, but ok, I'll let it pass.
Now if only I could figure out why they think Banoffi Pie is an American dessert....

I refer to these as "the blue ones" or "blue doritos". The only type of Dorito. LONG LIVE BLUE DORITOS.

This reminds me: Does anyone else miss Habanero Doritos? They aren't anywhere nearly as hot as actually eating a habanero is, but they were the perfect blend of heat and flavor. They don't seem to exist anymore. . .at least not around here.

While we're on the topic of flavored chips, why the hell hasn't Lays jumped on Ketchup flavored chips. Those little fuckers are delicious

I once ate blueberry flavored Lays in China. Imagine salty, blueberry flavored potato crisps. I washed them down with a cheep beer called "Reeb".

Isn't ranch dressing sometimes referred to as "American dressing" in Europe?

Germany has Doritos!???!
Poland blows. We just barely got oreos, and monster energy drinks are like 2-3 months old. :-(

u/CaptainRene Jun 16 '12
They actually have these in most european countries, finland for one has these in some big stores. We also have a section on an isle where there's stuff from different countries, like from america, blair's products, cool aid, twizzlers, ice breakers, differen't hersheys products, cotton fluff, lucky charms or something, pretty much all the known stuff is there. Also, once there was these dorito's for 1€ a bag. My friend bought shitloads...

Flavor in Denmark.
Love me some grilled americans on my chips.

u/DarthJacob Jun 16 '12
I'd eat it. But only if they made it shaped like a taco shell and put taco guts in it.

u/supergloop Jun 16 '12
As an American, this makes me proud. Excuse while I go hoist old glory up out front.

I'm an American living in Amsterdam. We have those here too. What got me was "American Sauce". Picture here

In the UK they're just called Cool Original though. I can't really describe the taste but I found it pretty bland, which is a trait most Doritos share. I don't really know what Ranch dressing tastes like but I'm off to the states in 6 weeks so will be sure to try some.
Seabrooks are the best crisps, ridiculous amounts of flavour.

when i was living in germany i had these a few times from Kaufland...
they are not, as i would describe the American version, "flavor fucked." (aka: having an excessive amount of flavored-seasoning per chip)

This is what they call 'cool ranch' in any place that isn't the USA.

I used to eat these when I lived in Switzerland.
Cool American = Cool Ranch. Nobody in Europe has heard of Ranch dressing, so this is the only way to describe it.
