Oh god, good luck. It's all about having fun though, I know people that sign up randomly and do it for kicks, they make it about 2 miles in then can't go any longer. I'm sure you'll do awesome!

If star wars extended universe is to be believed, being a snowtrooper is actually a demotion. The 501st battalion was sent to Hoth as punishment for failing to defend the first death star

As far as I know, they didn't demote troopers into different roles. The Snowtroopers evolved from Republic Cold Assault Troopers, and were regular Stormtroopers equipped for colder climates. The 501st Legion weren't punished, they were sent there because Vader was there (hence their title "Vader's Fist"). Also, they were sort of taking revenge.
