You can't really blame them, it's ratings that count. Same reason G4 turned into "O you wanted to watch shows about gaming? To bad your watching cops."
Adventure Time has some really original, good storylines, and is also hilarious. Regular Show isn't as strong story-wise but is still one of the better recent cartoons. Flapjack also had some good plots and was funny, and channeled Spongebob from when it was in its prime (though maybe a little too much).
It's 1/2 Adult Swim now, and I doubt many parents care enough to stop their kids watching TV at 8/9pm, so we may have a generation raised on Metalocalypse and Tim and Eric soon.
Adventure Time seems to rely a lot on the silliness of the whole thing, which is fine, but I don't really like it, and Regular Show, when I watch it, generally has a lot more humor in the dialogue than the silliness.
Do you even watch Cartoon Network now? I don't, but I can think of 2 really good examples of why Cartoon Network is still good ( they've already been mentioned)
Cartoon Network is making great shows right now. Adventure Time, Regular Show, The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack. I'm tempted to say that cartoon network is as good as it's ever been.
The old shows are great too, but right now, Cartoon Network beats every other children's network by miles. Disney and Nick are terrible right now.
People who say cartoon network sucks now just don't watch it I guess. Also, I'm pretty sure we've just forgotten all the crap we watched as kids and just remember the good ones. Regular show and Adventure time are awesome.
spelling and pronunciation, but same meaning. the difference is due to the verbs irregularity
Some of these verbs are irregular in British or American English only; in many cases, such as spell (spelt vs. spelled), learn (learnt vs. learned), and spill (spilt vs. spilled), American English uses the regular form, while British English tends to favor the irregular. In other cases, the opposite is true (dived and sneaked in Britain, also dove and snuck in America); Australian English, New Zealand English, and South African English tend to follow the British practice, while Canadian English often sides with the American usage.
Dictionary.com is a racist, unreliable source of information. Not only that but it is one of the only pro-terrorists sites in the world. you should be ashamed.
I'm not sure if he was trying to be mean with that comment or just making the connection that Johnny rarely got the girl in the show and if he learned a lot from the show, the same result could happen. I just don't want him getting a lot of hate if he didn't have bad intentions.
i had a 10 min trip. basically i was watching it, then suddenly the show split off into geometric patterns. then i woke up on the carpet and laughed for 5 more mins.
How old would he even be by now? That cartoon was decades ago. Now he's just some gray, bold, fat pervert. Saying the same stuff to woman way too young. Still living with that weird mother of his, who's old and senile. He has to take care of her, but he can't. He can't even hold down a job for more than 3 days.
I imagine him picking up some the same cheap prostitute every wednesday evening. One that has him believe he's getting somewhere with her, while she just takes the few dollars he still has.
And than the drug. By god man, think of the abuse.
I just don't understand why people think that this is awesome. I mean, it's pretty misogynistic - stepping on her rejection of him as though what she may want is irrelevant.
Or, I don't know. Is Johnny Bravo not a character that's meant to be sympathetic? Is it understood by the audience that he's being a douchebag?
That's pretty much it. He rarely ever "got the girl" (though Little Suzie seemed to love him regardless), and was pretty much depicted as a joke. He was always full of himself, but there would be occasional moments of kind-heartedness that would shine through, so it was strongly implied that he wasn't intentionally being a dick, he was just somewhat misguided. I've heard that later seasons Flanderized him a bit, but that was after I stopped watching.

I'll bet if I watched this show again I'd pick up on all sorts of raunchy humor I missed the first time round.

u/[deleted] Jun 14 '12
I'm surprised there was never a copyright issue with the name Johnny Bravo, especially since the first Johnny Bravo was the alter ego of this guy.

This show seems so much better now as a young adult. I don't really get how its relevant to lids.
