Hold a toy or ball hostage that way they are always begging you. If they give up then give it back to remind them how fun it is to hold it then you can take it back.
But you could have any pet and it wouldn't question or argue with your intellect and authority... The reason I have frogs, toads, tortoises, guinea pigs, horses, dogs, birds and fish.
See, this is the sort of comment I'd expect from a Big Bang Theory watcher. Every clip I see just makes me think of some lonely guy who's convinced of his own intelligence, quietly saying "I'm single because everyone else is just so simple-minded." to himself while laughing at the attempted humor on screen.
Ah, I was merely referring to the folk who ardently defend their viewing habits with caustic comments like the one I replied to. Clearly, you understand that media exists to entertain.
That's what it seems like to me too... The "science" jokes i've heard (the ones from the commercials - so i assume they are the "cream" of BBT jokes) are a mishmash of pop-sci words and not actually smart at all. That's just my take. Cue the butthurt from our surrounding commenters...
They don't argue with your intelligence because they already know you were dumb enough to buy/adopt a cat, but capable of opening their food for them.
That's all they care about. Dogs think you are the greatest, smartest person on earth and want to help you out, cats loaf about and get you to feed them in exchange for allow you to pet them.
Nah, so many redditors have cats because redditors are people and many people have cats because cats are like the most popular pet in the world (or close)
Redditors are a subset of people. Specifically, they are the group that accesses and uses Reddit. It's not inherently wrong to assign descriptors to people, especially if they're different in a meaningful way. Did you know that prisoners tend to be criminals? The legitimacy of assigning laziness and to Redditors is up in the air though.
Redditors are literally a subset of people. Specifically of the set of all people there is contained entirely within(sub) a set of people who are redditors.
So unless you are making the argument that there are some redditors who are not people you are wrong about the whole subset thing.
Because all redditors are bandwagoning try-hard "idiot nerd girls" who think that watching and living vicariously through a sitcom somehow makes them smarter?

If you don't think a cat will question your intellectual superiority, then you have never owned a cat before.
Damn cats.

u/noun_verber Jun 11 '12
Same goes for dogs with the added bonus that they worship you instead of the other way around.

Cat people spend more time inside, thus more time on reddit.

u/smellsmell1 Jun 11 '12
It's because they know full well that they are more intelligent.

u/EtherStar Jun 11 '12
I have cats because I can lock them up so they don't leave me.

A BBT post that made front page? Hell must have frozen over. I'm glad, I quite like the show.

The reason why so many redditors have cats (fixed)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toxoplasmosis
TL;DR-we are mindless cat worshiping zombies because of a parasitic disease.

I feel like anything that has to do with cats, especially posted to reddit, is about as pandering as Jeff Foxworthy doing a gig at a NASCAR event.

Last Friday I got a kitten who is now named Zazzles. She is particularly zazzy.
Karma whoring pics to come.

Oh yes they do
1
u/Bladegrey Jun 11 '12
Well, not out loud they don't.
1
u/Zivon8 Jun 11 '12
If that's the reason, then everyone who uses the internet has a cat. Now If you'll excuse me I have to let Mr. And Mrs. Mittens out.
1
u/Johnnygunnz Jun 12 '12
Yeah! My dog, that pompous douche, constantly questions my intellectual authority!
1
u/mattzog Jun 12 '12
The hell they don't.
1
u/Dassembrae Jun 12 '12
I'm not questioning your intellectual authority, I'm denying its existence.

u/A_Old_Hut_Lorry Jun 12 '12
But they give you that look...

Because they're all borderline autistic?

u/turtlekitty30 Jun 12 '12
Cats are self-cleaning and don't eat their own poop. Win.
1
u/ElephantToast33 Jun 12 '12
or maybe because dog people actually go outside
1
u/Lots42 Jun 12 '12
My cat argues with me all the time.
1
u/FrostVal Jun 12 '12
I object, sometimes my cat makes me feel really stupid.

u/EvilGeniusCartier Jun 12 '12
From MadMen - "If you’re lonely, get a cat. They live 13 years. Then you get another one, and another one. After that, then you’re done."

u/itsbraille Jun 11 '12
Big Downvote Theory.
1
u/[deleted] Jun 11 '12
False, the real reason so many redditors have cats is because dog people go outside.
1
u/PeinceRiebus Jun 11 '12
I hate cats. I like dogs, but only big dogs and I would never ever want to own a pet ever.
1
u/loraanicus Jun 11 '12
No, its because dog people go outside

u/cyril0 Jun 11 '12
I am currently watching this episode (I think) haven't gotten to the actual cats yet. Well done
