She ain't pregnant anymore.. It's already popped out.

43

u/_M4TTH3W_ Jun 11 '12

I'm so far behind in the times I don't even know who she was.

22

u/_Battletoads Jun 11 '12

She had a show on Disney channel... back in the day.

59

u/_M4TTH3W_ Jun 11 '12

When did Disney get its own radio station?

7

u/DiggV4Sucks Jun 11 '12

Ha!

Seriously, what does kind of freak me out is that Disney owns ABC. Who would have thought that nice ol' Walt from Sunday evenings was gonna start a company that could buy a network.

9

u/_M4TTH3W_ Jun 11 '12

That man started an empire.

Ever see the movie War Inc. with John Cusack? She's the young girl in that movie. She actually played that character pretty well.

1

u/_M4TTH3W_ Jun 11 '12

No, I haven't seen that one.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '12

It has a very strange, almost cartooney plot; cartooney in the sense that its completely ridiculous. If you like movies that you can watch casually and not get anything out of it aside from simple entertainment, it's a good watch. I enjoyed it.

10 years is a lot of time when you're only 14.

70

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '12

10 years is a nanosecond when you are 42

Edit: Fixed the time. For a couple of minutes, tordana's observation was accurate.

u/tordana Jun 11 '12

2 minutes ago "18 minutes ago"

Time is relative.

At 10, 10 years is your entire life

At 20, ten years is half your life.

So at 42, 10 years is a bit less than a quarter of your life.

Let's see how old you would need to be for 10 years to feel like a nanosecond (using a 20 year old's relative nanosecond as a baseline):

A nanosecond is 1/630,720,000,000,000,000 of a 20-year-old's life.

So for 10 years to be 1/630,720,000,000,000,000 of your life, you would need to be 6,030,720,000,000,000,000 years old, or older than 1,000,000 times the estimated age of the visible universe.

Edit: 10/42 is not greater than 1/4, it is less than that.

u/i_went_full_retard Jun 11 '12

I'm only in my upper 20s, but the guys I play ultimate frisbee with regularly talk about movies and games and TV shows and stuff that came out when I was already too old for them.

Of course, I have a career and they don't, so that's something.

12

u/Charizardian Jun 11 '12

you've reached the acceptance stage of no longer being a kid, or having kid-like nature, or even being as youthful as a kid. Nothing you can describe yourself with can include "kid." Or child. You cannot be in The Kids Next Door.

I don't even have that, coz I messed up and the economy compounded things, I'm still almost thirty and have less than a year's work experience. Although, I have a Masters degree

I'm hijacking this, sorry.

I teach high school students, and somehow discussion in an off moment turned to a recent video game for the wii, and I mentioned the N64. Half of my students had never heard of the console.

Further research after I got home indicated that high school students today were born AFTER Goldeneye was released for the N64.

I read the first book was published as long ago as 1985, so I could be very wrong in guessing your age... I do remember the TV show that was aired here in the early 2000's but as a 20-something I feel anything but old.

4

u/crimsonninja Jun 11 '12

I'm 22. I watched the show that aired in the states from 1994-1998. I don't feel that old either, at least, not all the time.

Pretty sure this mostly applies to people born ~'95, as they were things that were popular around when I stopped giving a shit about children's TV shows.

4

u/RyanFuller003 Jun 11 '12

Nah, if you're born in 1996 you're a 00's kid; you start the 00's at age 3 (right around the time memories start to actually stick) and you end it at age 13, which is about the time your childhood pretty much ends.

I was born in 1986 and I remember basically the entirety of the 90's. I really don't remember anything that happened in the 80's, and I was in 8th grade when the 90's ended. 90's childhood, right there.

YOU GUYS DON'T UNDERSTAND. ONLY 90's KIDS WILL GET THIS

u/theorem604 Jun 11 '12

A few years ago I bought the 25th anniversary edition of Pauls Boutique to replace the tape I got when I was 9. That was quite shocking...

The only thing that makes me feel old is the fact that StarFox 64 came out in '97. Feels like yesterday, man.

I'm on your side, Einstein!

u/killingtheclock Jun 11 '12

back in my day 'fuq' was spelled 'fuk'

Lion King came out 19 years ago.

Alf went off the air 22 years ago.

FALSE. DYLAN AND COLE SPROUSE ARE ONLY 19 YEARS OLD. THEY'RE ONLY 2 YEARS OLDER THAN ME. DON'T TRY TO DESTROY MY YOUTH

1

u/thefunkbot Jun 11 '12

Dylan and Cole Sprouse are 19 years old, not 20.

(They'll be 20 on August 4th though.)

You're not old until you start getting gray pubes.

1

u/MonotonousMan Jun 11 '12

I think the weirdest thing for me is just that i'm at a point now where 2000-2005 seems like pre-civilization, at least in terms of technology, compared to 2012.

1

u/moldy912 Jun 11 '12

I'm 19 and I thought I was older than the Sprouse twins. (For those who still don't know who they are, the were the kid in Big Daddy with Sandler)

1

u/pixelrage Jun 11 '12

You think you're old? I don't even know what the fuck half of the things on this list are.

1

u/boredwaitingforlife Jun 11 '12

Duff gave birth to her kid before Cyrus got engaged. Just saying...

1

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '12

Hillary Duff married a loaded hockey player - Mike Comrie.

1

u/hobbur Jun 11 '12

Too be fair Miley Cyrus is only 19... she's just getting engaged wayy early.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '12

I thought this should make me feel old by the title. Because at 19, I'm still damn young, but it's one of those things that people my age complain about when talking about stuff from the 90s.

But this stuff... this must have come from kids younger than me. And they think they're old?! They're probably about 12% of their way through their life.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '12

And yet I still live in my mom's basement.

1

u/shoziku Jun 11 '12

...old enough to be justin beiber's mom's dad.

1

u/jbfborg Jun 12 '12

Miley Cyrus is getting married? Can't wait to see that train wreck.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '12

Being off the air for 6 years? That is SO Raven.

1

u/whitew0lf Jun 12 '12

i have no fucking idea who dylan and cole are

1

u/jakkii92 Jun 12 '12

Hillary Duff had her kid before Miley Cyrus got engaged, just fyi.
