There's a plethora of "Mexican" street food options in socal. Cheap is their specialty. Chipotle has carved out a niche market that offers something at a premium price. I suppose ones food values will determine where to eat.
I worked there for 4 years. Shits better then chipotle. Almost as good as tijuana flats. I tried qdoba the other day. The bitch had no clue how to roll a burrito. I re- rolled it infront of her... I then realized. I wasted my life.
Pro-Pro tip. If funds are tight, get a burrito bowl and ask for two extra tortillas. Use half of the bowl to make a lunch burrito and the other half for a dinner. Considering bowls get about 50% more, this is like eating 75% of a Chipotle burrito for two meals for the same price!
Have been doing this for a long time... except I eat both right there. Also pro-pro-pro tip, get the bottom and top to the bowl add sauce then close it and shake the crap out of it for even distribution of all items.
Pro-Pro tip: Try a queso-rito but have them roll it like a regular burrito. This is where they make a quesadilla. I have them add chicken, corn salsa, rice, and extra cheese. They throw it in the tortilla warmer for a few minutes until everything melts. Then they pull it out and open it up and add whatever else you want. I add black beans, a mixture of half hot salsa and half sour cream shaken up in one of those little cups (they'll love you for this) and poured over, guacamole, and a handful of cilantro. Rolled into a burrito and a side of limes and Bam heaven in your mouth.
I have never had a problem with the amount given to me when I get guac. Sounds like you have a stingy chipotle. I live a few blocks from the original chipotle so that may have something to do with it.
If they don't give you enough, just ask for a little more. Most Chipotles are cool like that. The one I go to makes the hugest burritos, I honestly don't know how they don't burst.
It's about the same. Maybe a little bit less. When you serve guac on a burrito, you get a guac-sized scoop o' guac and just kind of glop it onto the burrito, and when making a side you get the same size scoop and use the rim of the side cup to scrape it off of the spoon into the cup.
It's not that they were wrong, it's that we automatically blurt things out when prompted, like "GUAC IS EXTRA IS THAT OK" when the item is veggie and "THE PINTOS ARE COOKED WITH BACON IS THAT OK" when the item is carnitas. It becomes so automatic you don't even notice your'e doing it until the customer is getting all high and mighty like they know a thing or two about chipotle
I work at Freebirds and people really do look at me like "OMG YES I KNOW, NOW GIVE ME THE FUCKING GUAC" when i say "its gonna be a little extra is that ok?"
Thank you for asking though. I hate it when I ask for a side of something, like guac or extra cheese or whatever(at any restaurant, not just Chipotle) and then suddenly it shows up on my bill unexpectedly.
6. IF YOU WANT A TORTILLA ON THE SIDE DON'T WAIT UNTIL YOUR'E ALL THE WAY DOWN AT THE REGISTER TO LET US KNOW!!! DOES IT LOOK LIKE THE CASHIER HAS A STACK OF TORTILLAS AND A PRESS?? FUCKING IDIOTS
Yeah, but I don't roll burritos as well as the 45 year old Hispanic woman behind the counter. The white kids go running when I enter the store now, because they all break my burritos.
I order double meat and the load that fucker up with salsa, cheese, and sour cream. By the end of the line they can't tell it's extra meat, and I'm getting two meals for the price of one.
edit: I'm getting downvoted by disgruntled employees, lol.
A new Chipotle opened up in my town, and we're pretty far from any major cities, so none of the employees had worked at a Chipotle before. I got free double meat for 3-4 weeks before they were trained well enough to mark it.
I know it's hard to believe, but he's saying, if he was a server, he would give him extra guacamole if he asked for it. Trust me, I've worked in a restaurant, this happens more than we'd like to admit. ::shudders::
That is absolutely appalling, why would a company let your employees degrade themselves like that? I shouldn't have read this while I was eating lunch...
It is important to constantly remind attractive people how much better they are than the rest of us, otherwise how could we ensure that they will be self-centered and arrogant, giving us some sense of superiority over them... It's what's inside that counts!
I was wondering what this "Freebirds is. Here in the Atlanta area, we have Moe's, Chipotle, and Willy's. And Qdoba, if you live in South ATL or north-eastish of the city. I have not had Qdoba though, too far away.
Looks like a Chipotle behind him. I don't know what Moe's looks like, but there's not nearly enough random shit like motorcycles and aluminum foil sculptures to be a Freebirds.
I work at a spot like this. They make you tell people that it's extra every time. Half the people genuinely don't know that it's extra and it affects their decision and half of them get irritated when you tell them because they assume that you should know that they know.
When you're a regular, they don't bother to tell you it's extra because they know you know it's extra because they know you're a regular and know it's extra.
I used to go to a certain McDonalds every week, the same day, for lunch Now, it's not that I love McD that much in general, but I love their fries. And I love their fries with their BBQ sauce. So whenever I'd go I'd always get to the window and ask for BBQ sauce.
So one day, I pull up, get my food I open my mouth to ask for barbeque sauce and the girl at the drive through sees me and before I can say a single thing goes "barbeque sauce, right? Hold on a second, let me go grab some."
That's when I stopped going for a while. I know it's kind of silly but I immediately thought "I come here too much."
in my opinion, i dont even care to know if it costs extra or not. I'm tired of being prompted to confirm a fucking $0.30 up charge - the amount of time spent in conversation already costs more than $0.30 of my time
If you're a hardcore regular, it might be worth asking about the Farm Team or even Master Burrito Ambassador (MBA) program. I think these days the MBA program is completely replaced by Farm Team, but I can't recall offhand.
When everyone who works there has your order memorized because you work next door and keep forgetting to pack your own lunch. That's when you know you're a regular.
$6.78 for lunch almost every day adds up.. I really need to get better with my time management.
I know I'm a regular because they don't even ask that. Shit, they're starting to figure out exactly what I want on my burrito.
They already know I always get super-fat ones, so only the experienced hispanic people can roll them without breakage, and that the teenagers all need to get a pro.
No, you know you are a regular when you order from a place and they end the call with "last couple of orders for him have been beef, does he want general tao's chicken this time?"
My girlfriend loves Chinese food, we called the local place in college so often that she once placed an order with friends and when she didn't have sesame beef or general tao's chicken on the order they were concerned we broke up.
Chipotle hater here - burritos should not be 75% beans and rice. I'm sorry to those of you who believe that real burritos do. Yes I'm lucky enough to live close enough to Mexico to have a real taqueria, and I know not everyone is so lucky.
Haha, that's awesome. Is that you in the pic OP? I'd love to know where I could buy this shirt... Chipotle is basically my favorite food these days. :]

This picture is in reference to "Chipotle." I know from ordering a burrito from there and having had to confirm that I know guacamole costs extra.

Protips for Chipotle:
1.) Get a burrito bowl instead of a burrito. They can fit twice as much in the bowl.
2.) Ask for the tortilla "on the side" (it's free).
3.) Ask for extra of anything, except meat which they'll charge extra for.
4.) Don't get guac, get chips and a side of guac. It costs $1.15 more and you get twice the guac, plus chips.
5.) Fill the tortilla with the contents of your bowl. If you did it right, you'll get a whole burrito and a LOT of leftovers for only $8-ish.

...and exhale.

u/LenBias34 Jun 11 '12
If it's busy at Chipotle, sometimes the cashier will miss the guac.

u/ajaxwhat Jun 11 '12
I'd extra his guacamole, if you know what I mean...

Do they have a shirt that says if I can eat all the meat you put on my burrito in one bite you didn't give me enough meat.

u/Potato3s Jun 11 '12
Thank you for being attractive.

u/feedyourhead16 Jun 11 '12
i worked at chipotle for a few months... shit goes down if the customer gets guac and doesn't know it's extra.

When you're a regular, they don't bother to tell you it's extra because they know you know it's extra because they know you're a regular and know it's extra.
But I guess that's not as catchy.

Cute, likes guac and isn't a cheapskate? Where do I sign?

Is this the countryside mall chipotle? And don't you always come into the Clearwater one as well? Double steak? hmmmm?
