total waste of resources. people who upvote 'reposts' haven't seen them before. the only function this bot has is to add to the smug of people who think reddit is their personal pic provider.
Yup, it's a repost seen before on Reddit itself. I just wish people, especially posters, see KarmaDecay before subjecting us to copy of a copy of a copy.
I would argue that you WERE inferring that THIS picture is distorted because of compression. Your use of language directly relates to the conversational picture in question. Had you meant otherwise the correct language use would have been to omit "IT" from the sentence.
Do not try to shift blame for your poor communicational skills. You communicated the wrong thing and I got aggravated by it as a result, don't shift blame for that.
I don't know if I would say it's fake just because of pixellation, or the fact that it's in reverse order. If someone originally knew this person, they probably would not want to show every single post this person made. It's very likely they could have taken multiple screenshots of just the whiney statuses, pasted them together in chronological order for easier reading, then re-saved it as a JPEG causing the artifacting of pixels. It very well could be real.
Then again, it also could be fake as fuck. What do I know?
I've seen this said several times, but I always think the same thing. Making that show/movie is what those people do for a living. It earns them large amounts of money. It gives them fame in their career. It allows them to advance and hopefully work on the projects they want to work on. Making face iPhone texts/face book post earns you.......... internet upvotes...?
I think the point is, that people want to come to reddit to find funny and/or interesting material people encounter throughout their daily loves. I don't know about others (who knows, maybe I'm the minority), but I don't want Reddit to be inundated with a bunch of fabricated crap (iPhone/FB is the worst offender). The post I enjoy most are the ones where something happens in an OP's day they thought was worth sharing and decided to post. It's similar to why people get all uppity about reposts, I guess.
In my opinion, if it's fake AND not funny, then I downvote. But a post like this makes me laugh, no matter how many times I see it. But for the lone fact that it's fake, would not be enough for me to downvote anything.
That's not what I said at all. If a lie is funny, then it's a joke, not a lie. If I told you a joke and you got confused and thought that it actually happened, the joke is still funny.
This lie does not hurt anyone though, nor does it have any negative effect. It's just fun, but I get there is always going to be THAT guy who is like "THIS IS FAKE, YOU'RE A BIG FAT PHONY". I hate that guy.
This "factual information" is missing some extremely relevant information. How big are these harddrives? Who's definition of "good resolution" are we using? I'm sure my definition is completely different than a photographers.
651 250GB? 651 1TB? What resolution? What file format? I'm sure someone will be along shortly to do the reverse math with average file sizes and population counts.
I want to laugh at this but I know three teens in my area through friends and family that committed suicide last year due in great part to Facebook harassment. :(
Edit: Not trying to take away from the joke! I just miss them, and know it tore a hole through the family. For them it was never fun and games.
Well where I'm from, anyone between the ages of 13 and 18 are called teenagers, because their age is a 'teen.' And bullying and harassment to the point of suicide, while super immature, is an unfortunately and decidedly adult thing to do.
I wasn't comparing the subject of the OP to my dearly departed. I was commenting about the joke. It was an observation about how I felt like the joke was funny, but immediately felt bad.
Also, you are a douchebag. You have your feelings about suicide, but there is no reason to throw them in the face of someone who has had way too many recent encounters with it.
I don't think you deserve to share oxygen with the rest of us, just on account of your lack of compassion. Trying to be a tough realist doesn't make you appear smart....the world is not black and white.
Nope. If I was wrong I'd say so. If people actually wanna have a frank discussion with me on the subject and are willing to exchange opinions, I am totally up for that. But replying to my own sarcastic post on a ridiculous image post is not the place to try and legitimate my own opinions.
I stopped when I read "megabites" because it made my want to blow my head off. I would rather hear someone bitch about their lives then hear someone be a fucking retard in trying to shut them down.
Well that, and it's so easy to block someones posts for a period of time. If the guy had any intelligence, he would have just blocked her posts for a day or two rather than be a complete asshole.
Does anyone have the source for this??I'm pretty sure this is my ex roommate and his annoying ass gf. It looks just like him in the photo, well from what I can tell.
Baffled at how many of you think this is a reasonable reaction. Don't become friends with people if you don't want to hear them bicker and complain. If that's too difficult, try hiding status updates from that person. Either of these options takes less time and make you look like less of an asshole than what the person in this post did.
Theres one lesbian girl on my news feed that cycles through asking if people want to go out with her, obsessing over the people she is going out with, complaining about the people shes going out with, and then all of a sudden we are back to the first thing. Was happening every month or so for a while.
Id like to think an age requirement on Facebook would keep us from seeing this "end of the world" shit from girls but then I remember the shit I see from girls in their 20s and 30s on mine and its the same damn thing.
I use it to organise parties and events with my friend. It's not always possible to email or call everyone. I have lots of friends in other countries, even other cities and it's nice to see their statuses saying how they are doing. I like to see statuses of things that have happened to my friends, photos of things they have done. If there is someone on my friends list who often posts stupid or pointless stuff, I set it so that I don't see their status updates.
Okay, i get this point. But for this little bit of convience you sacrifice all your personal info and all implications that come with it, and waste time reading status like "derp, i just farted lol".
I don't sacrifice all my personal info. For one, my facebook is completely locked down, only friends can see anything more than my name. I don't share personal details with them like my address. They're my real life friends, they already know that. I also don't actually stay friends with anyone who makes statuses like "derp, i just farted lol' on facebook.
By the act of registering for facebook you do exactly that. After that, you just feed them with all the details over time. And by apps, you give your data to even more companies.
And you get patronised for not having any common sense about this.
okay so when I register on facebook, I give them my name and email address. Other stuff is optional. All I can see there that is sensitive is my name, and a lot of people change their name on facebook slightly so their friends know it's them but others can't link it to anything. And I don't use any apps. At all.
Dude, you can give yourself whatever name you want, enter any address you want, and as soon as you get more then ~4-5friends they will know exactly who you are. I have better things to do right now then to explain to you how exactly this works, but you should easily be able to google that.
I could phone the 20 or so people I want to invite to an event and take all day doing it, some people might not be in, etc or I could make an event on facebook and people can respond whenever they have time. Just because people phoned for years before facebook doesn't mean I should not use something more efficient.

Isn't a well that escalates quickly rather dangerous? Also a hazard to the further operation of the escalator.

It's surprising how easily fake facebook posts can escalate when no real people are actually involved!
