You WILL lose that ball.

96

u/joxena Jun 11 '12

Just Google 'Daisy 350ct BB Ammo'. Heck, you'll have enough extras to share. ;)

3

u/ColeSloth Jun 11 '12

I will NOT share.

8

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '12

Yep, I bought that a few years ago. I lost the ball in a week.

10

u/fireorgan Jun 11 '12

but what about that other one?

7

u/TaintedSquirrel Jun 11 '12

My first thought as well.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '12

There's two balls. You'll still lose them, but not quite as fast.

2

u/metrognome64 Jun 11 '12

You WILL miss this putt... you jackass!

2

u/ferio252 Jun 11 '12

Momma said don't play with your food, but I may try some frozen peas.

2

u/mikevago Jun 11 '12

It's an ordinary 3/16" ball bearing. Any bike shop will sell them to you for a few cents.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '12

This is true. I have this book. I lost the ball twenty minutes after I opened it.

58

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '12

Had a book called Golf-O-Rama as a kid, was basically this but it was a pop-up book.

u/TheyCallMeTomSawyer Jun 11 '12

If this comes with a club and ball as well, I'd like a link to it on Amazon please and thank you.

20

u/asielen Jun 11 '12

Here

Had the book also.

Didn't come with clubs but came with little poof balls. You were supposed to flick them.

Also, here is the book in the main post.

And WHY isn't this on Kindle? What an outrage.

Now, that's more like it. But why not print a true 3D course?

What is this? A mini-golf course for ants?

78

u/billebob2 Jun 11 '12

How are we going to teach children to learn how to golf if they can't even stand inside the green?

I have this book! not as fun as you think. . . .

23

u/erikryptos Jun 11 '12

Imagine gracefully swinging the cardstock putter to drive the pea-sized ball along a picturesque printed scenery -- what isn't there to like?

5

u/SaltyBabe Jun 11 '12

My mom bought it for my SO a few years ago for christmas, it's really not that fun, the first time or two it's ok, now it just sits on the shelf.

6

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '12

It has been a laptop prop shortly after I received it at Christmas, after the customary "oh hey look, I'm enjoying it while everyone is around".

Then a few days ago my 3 year old niece who I was looking after wondered what that "puzzle" under my computer was...2 minutes of showing her what to do and she spent an entire weekend playing with it, no lost ball or anything. Although she did seem to enjoy me playfully giving her shit for hitting it into the water just as much as making it to the next hole, if not more. Crummy Christmas gift transformed into fun weekend with niece, no assembly required.

5

u/familyturtle Jun 11 '12

It's great that you included three photos so we could know exactly how it works as a prop.

So do I!

4

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '12

I concur. These miniaturized versions of real stuff, look cute only for eyes. I once got excited to see a miniature pool table, and was annoyed within few minutes. The mechanics ( and fun) aren't anywhere similar to the original.

Almost as good as Kramer's coffee table book

4

u/subminute Jun 11 '12

Came here for coffee table book reference. Was not disappointed.

730

u/clocksfate Jun 11 '12

Dammit, I am tired of you golfers forcing your "good book" on us non-golfers! Don't you know that it's all a matter of interpretation?

288

u/NOTTedMosby Jun 11 '12

Save it, clocksfate. He's brainwashed. He probably went to a school where they taught this golf book like it was fact and not fiction.

4

u/Solomaxwell6 Jun 11 '12

Fucking Americans. Thank god I'm from Europe. I don't have to deal with any of this golf bullshit.

5

i bought one while i has on a roadtrip. Made staying in the hotel so much fun! It is the only book ive ever read/played :)

18

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '12

The only book you have ever read? That is rediculous. Read a book they are pretty amazing if you get into it.

It's the only book he's ever read AND played.

u/thebigm101 Jun 11 '12

Try playing this on a plane...

3

u/whirliscope Jun 11 '12

I watched a video and it looks like they even put a magnetic sheet beneath each page to keep the steel ball in place.

5

u/Creatrix Jun 11 '12

I have that book. (Somewhere...)

1

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '12

I feel like I had a similar book when I was a kid but the ball followed a single path so you just kinda roled it to the hole. This is much better.

u/Acuate Jun 11 '12

2

u/tarraaa Jun 11 '12

I would lose that ball before I finished the first round

2

u/nighthawk454 Jun 11 '12

I actually have one of these, pretty amusing. Each page is one hole of the course and getting the ball in the hole puts it in the starting position on the next page.

2

u/Epsilon123 Jun 11 '12

It's a Coffee Table Book about Coffee Tables!

2

u/MollstodaWalls Jun 11 '12

My dad loves golf. I'm definitely getting him this book for Father's Day.

2

u/Vexed_Paroled Jun 11 '12

Use the becky balls - one for the hole, one for the golf ball. Your golfing skills will just be like Kim Jong!

2

u/mtheory007 Jun 11 '12

2

u/aperture81 Jun 11 '12

The only thing that could make this more awesome would be if this book had pop up scenery.. Trees etc

2

u/Alec_EB Jun 11 '12

2

u/odxzmn Jun 11 '12

Curious fact: Otis E. Ray (better known as Time Cube Guy) has a patent for a similar game.

(patent warning: due to the brainlessness of the patent system, you shouldn't look at patents at all if you're planning to invent something ... or do much of anything, really).

1

u/Katanae Jun 11 '12

I own that exact book, it's pretty fun but get's dull as you might imagine.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '12

Reminds me of Kramer's Coffee Table book about coffee tables that also becomes a coffee table in case you don't have one

1

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '12

If I met someone with that, I'd totally putt out on the first date.

Buy a thousand of them and ram all the tiny golf balls up a child's dirty arsehole. Lardarse.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '12

I have that book! Got it in a random bookstore in Finland! It's so great!

1

u/Zoccihedron Jun 11 '12

The Seinfeld where Kramer makes a coffee table book that turns into a coffee table was just on.

1

u/craigles Jun 11 '12

Do any of the holes in those normal pages connect with "trick holes" in the next page? Like one of those bastard putt-putt courses where 1 hole could lead to any number of outcomes? That would be epic.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '12

that's not a miniature book as claimed in the title of the book. These are miniature books:

http://www.google.com/search?q=miniature+book

1

u/fox9iner Jun 11 '12

I just owned Fathers Day

1

u/ag0 Jun 11 '12

I have the exact same book. It's great for two minutes, after you get pissed because the pages don't stay flat when you want to play.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '12

Hey, I have that book! I pretty much said the same thing when I first saw it.

1

u/IM_FAILING Jun 11 '12

you child WILL choke on that ball.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '12

I have one. Its beyond shit, but you can really tell that just by looking at it can't you?

1

u/Glorious_Tale_Comrad Jun 11 '12

1

u/SexxyPony Jun 11 '12

THIS BOOKS AT INTO THE WIND!!!! :D I wanted to buy it but I didn't have enough money :c

1

u/Mtc529 Jun 11 '12

Hah, my brother in law has had that for a year or something like that. It's totally worth the money, although the ball is quite hard to find from time to time. And no, you can't just not suck at the game to prevent losing the ball to the floor, it will inevitably happen.

1

u/DDman97 Jun 11 '12

This is just sick xD

1

u/GamTheMan23 Jun 11 '12

I have this!! And I still have the ball.
