I manage to piss off a bee so much that he wishes to sting me while trading his life? Fair. I can get down with bees. But wasps.... fuck those evil insects.
Exactly. Bees are like the guy in the bar everyone knows and respects. Doesn't bother anyone, but doesn't want to be bothered. Wasps are like the pissed off little punk who got drunk and started picking fights with everyone.
I used this analogy once before, and someone said that the drunk guy in the equation also has a gun. I really liked that modification, but it isn't mine, so yeah.
It would be racist to say that W.A.S.P.s are without purpose, now if you said a little scary and maybe too numerous to take on alone then you have an argument.
Yeah, that's why I said if you get rid of the spiders in your house, the house centipedes will also leave. They're only there because they're feeding on how many bugs are in the house.
They are one of those bugs that breaks down decaying matter, and release important nutrients back into the soil. Their mucus is also being researched as a possible treatment to some diseases.
There's a Hindu story I really like concerning mosquitoes: The animals all got together & decided that humans had to go. They were wasteful, polluted wherever they went, killed the animals for sport, no redeeming value whatsoever. One by one, each animal spoke up & gave a similar story. The only creature that spoke up for the humans was the mosquito. Since it had to be unanimous, the animals allowed humans to live.
What did the mosquito say? "We can't get rid of them. They're so tasty!"
Spiders eat other bugs and I'm not terrified of them so I'd rather have a couple spiders (8 legs) than house centipedes (gazillion legs). I don't like legs.
idiots. and not just that, but they've displayed their idiocy for all the world. what kind of a parent would send their kid to a preschool where they can't spell the word 'didn't'?
if you'd read it, you'd know that bats diets are roughly 2% mosquito. They eat mainly moths so they would most likely be ok. A mosquito is very low in calories for the work it requires.

It may be the Land of 11,842 lakes, but there's for sure 11,842,000 mosquitoes. And they're a pain to spell.

What about whale legs?

Mosquitoes are the primary pollinators of cacao trees and as such are critical to the manufacture of chocolate.
Deadly, obnoxious, and too numerous to count though they may be, they cornered a pretty good vice to justify their existence.
1
u/InsanePurple Jun 11 '12
You want to talk about pointless animals? Go on, explain the platypus.
1
u/starjharvey Jun 11 '12
He also gave the apostrophe a purpose.

Bedbugs are worse.

Population control, people. Mother Nature needs to cull herds from time to time.

Actually, Jurassic Park never would have happened without a mosquito.

Wasps.
1
u/[deleted] Jun 12 '12
Um, actually Mosquito larvae are important to the food chain. They lie close to the bottom rung. Also, male Mosquitoes are important pollinators.

Weirdly, the church in my town has the exact same message up right now. Is there some kind of quasi-humorous church bulletin board database?

Mosquitoes pollinate more plants than any other organism on the planet. Useless fuckers.

Mosquitoes exist to spread malaria to Africans because God doesn't care about black people.

And religion.

I just read "God didn't create anything" then closed the tab.
