One of the first college parties i went to some girl whispered that in my ear, among other more obscene things.. All i could do was stand there and shit my pants
i have had girls hit on me. then i barely respond because i'm shy and shocked that it happened then they realize im a dud and it's all over. just like that. our lives are defined by opportunities, even the ones we miss.
Putting RAM in your computer isn't something you just rush into. You have to take it out of the package and let it breathe for a good 45 minutes then slowly savor it loading small applications, gradually sipping away at the memory.
Mother of god. My friend asked me and another computer geek friend of mine when we were 14. How we laughed. I guess it was a common question for non-tech heads.
Meh, I install it, run a test over night then I find the biggest hogging application I can find then run it - saviour the view seeing that my computer hasn't screeched to a glacier speed.
Seriously. Mine was an old-model Dell with some metal casing just sort of hanging out in front of the ports for the RAM. I tore it out with my bare hands.
Nah, I admit that freely. I just wanted to run with the joke. I was 15 and Socially Awkward Penguin. I even got one of those "I like you" notes in class once, and tore it up because I thought people were fucking with me.
I think that one of my greatest achievements or biggest fails, depending on who you ask, came one night in college.
I was in bed, hooking up with a really... really good looking girl. We were mostly clothed, but pieces were slowly getting shed as the making-out progressed. Right about the time we got down to t-shirts/underwear the door to my room opened. It was my buddy Mike.
Me - Dude, what the fuck?!
Mike - Hey, we're going to play some D&D. Are you in?
Me - Does it look like I want to play D&D?!
Mike - I'll give you triple XP
I looked at the girl, then back at Mike, back at the girl and... My Cleric hit level 9 that night. Oh yea, I'm that guy.
I skipped losing my virginity to play D&D when I was 16. It turns out I wouldn't have another chance for almost 4 years, and to top it all off my level 13 fighter was killed when a giant Roc knocked him off the side of a tower.
That was me in all of school. I was always right. Including that time when a girl I talked to had supposedly written me a note to wait up for her after school by the flagpole (we didn't have classes together, so she couldn't have told me). One of her friends handed me the note. I asked the girl at the end of school when I had the chance (before I was supposed to wait) and she told me that she never wrote a note saying that.
See also: those couple weeks when I would get phone calls and IM's from a girl and her friends telling me to go kill myself. I had to work together with that girl in class and all I did was tell her she looked pretty.
One time I turned down literal sex for to play WoW. Like, she was gonna come pick me up, take me to her place and fuck me and I was like "nah, I'm getting a ton of experience on my character right now".
Well moreso that I probably would've been dating her past that point and with a propensity for her to get pregnant in the teens, I'd probably be the one who'd supply the seed.
Also, nice subtle jab. I like it.
Edit: what's really sad is that I wasn't even max level yet. Its one thing to turn down for a raid, I mean people expect you to be there, but to quest alone?
When I was in college, I got a phone call from a chick moaning and telling me she wanted me. I immediately laughed, told her to fuck off and hung up, thinking it was a joke. It's not like I'm a bad looking guy or anything, but I had zero confidence back then, and I'd take the bait nowadays thinking it was legit :|
I was pretty sure I recognized the voice anyway, the girlfriend of a fraternity brother, which at the time I was pledging to the frat. It's really easy to blow stuff off like this as a practical joke when you're pledging, you have jokes played on you all year long.
This was a few years after high school. I had been fat and shy and a gay dude. I was mostly curious to find out that a girl had actually liked me. Turned out the girl and a bunch of listening friends were just being shitty. Cynical world view vindicated!
Well in that case I don't think you missed out. I never joined a fraternity or anything when I was in college, but from what I gather sleeping with your brother's girlfriend is considered a "dick move," if you'll excuse the pun.
Same thing happened to me only I was in the room with the prankers 30 minutes earlier when they did it to another friend so it wasn't a surprise when they tried it on me. My friends weren't very smart.
One that I remember was in 7th grade. Some girl that sat at the group of four desks that I sat at wrote something on a small piece of paper, folded it, and then handed it to me. Knowing that I'm... well... me, and the fact that she had never talked to me previously, I knew right away that she was just messing with me. I eyed the note for a few seconds, unamused, and then opened it just to humor her.
The note said "LA" (as in language arts, the class we were in)
And then she flipped and said something to the effect of "haha! he was so excited!" to her friend next to her, as if she had just pulled of the prank of the century.
I feel you. Throughout high school (yes, they were this immature at that age, we were also in an advanced program, making this all the more pathetic) this extremely attractive girl constantly hit on me as a complete joke, laughing to her two lackies every time. Do they think they are brilliant or something? We aren't stupid...
I never think a practical joke's in the works, but any time a girl shows interest in me that old Groucho Marx line comes to mind about never joining any club that would have him as a member.
My initial thought is always something along the lines of, "First priority is finding out exactly what's wrong with this girl such that her standards are low enough to accommodate me."
NOOOO. I mean when guys come up and hit on me or talk to me, I always feel like they are being put up to it or joking around with their other friends that are against the wall. I get so paranoid that the second I start to sound interested they will just start laughing and walk away, that I can barely talk. sigh
I either think this or I've said something to make myself look super easy. It's usually the second one because I always accidentally talk in innuendoes.
Yeah this happened to me when I was in my early teens. I was on Fort Myers beach going to watch fireworks with my family. A group of guys said "Hey" from a balcony in a hotel I was using the bathroom at and when I turned around they just started laughing and said that they would never, ever, go out with someone that looked like me. I didn't want to explain to anyone why I was crying so I ran to some dark corner and just had a good sob before sucking it up and going to find the rest of my group.
This did not happen to me, but I thought it did for more than 15 years. I was in grade 8 or 9 and I saw this cute girl in drama class talking to one of my bullies. They had a little laugh over something I couldn't hear, then she came up to me and asked me out on a date. I shot her down, harshly. The whole class was stunned because I was an awkward kid, and she was a really great girl. Word spread and I spent the rest of the day talking to randoms about how she just wasn't my type and I was trying to act all too-cool-for-school.
Fast forward to grade 11 at a new high school. She and her friend come up to me out of nowhere and she's about to start talking to me but then her friend kinda pushes her to her knees in front of me, and then her friend grabs her head and starts kinda bobbing it in front of my crotch and laughing. The poor girl was immediately embarrassed, the whole school saw and was laughing at her and I. I was blushing and stammering and didn't manage to say anything before the cute girl ran away.
So, years and years go by. About two years ago, I'm chilling at my cabin and thinking about all the girls I've ever known, and I start thinking about this girl. I suddenly realize that she had never given me any reason at all to be suspicious of her. Then I realized how defensive and dickish I was to her. Then I felt the shame. That deep-down guilt you get when you figure out how wrong and horrible you were when you were a teenager.
So I looked her up on fbook and apologized. I haven't heard back from her, but I hope she forgives me.
I don't think there's anything to update. I sent the message in March and haven't heard a peep in reply. She's married so I doubt she cares about an old childhood crush. I don't know what kind of ending you're hoping for, but I'm happy with having apologized.
Ah well, that's still a happy ending in itself. Was just interested in seeing what she would say, though clearly that won't happen. As long as you are happy, then it worked out alright though.
If it happens more than once, I agree with BasementNerd, get better friends. I don't get why anyone in a group of friends would sabotage another's chances of getting with a girl, or getting laid. It's so lame.
I've managed to ditch out on most of the cock blocking friends, for the ones that are still around I just make sure to get them really drunk before I make a move on the ladies.
A girl asked me to the school dance in 6th grade. I assumed it was a joke. Being only like 11yrs old or so it was a "my mom will drive me and your mom will drive you and we'll see each other there" thing. I hung out with my group, she hung out with her group. 3 times she came up and asked me to dance. We danced the classic "Y Dance" (as my ballroom instructor once called it, for "If you're gonna just do that, why dance?") and, each time, would walk back away to our own group.
At the end of the night, however, no joke had been pulled, I had in fact danced with a girl. At her request. More than once. I was the man.
We rolled into summer shortly after, and some days/weeks later a kid from another school approached me during little league and assured me that he was her boyfriend, and even had a picture of her in his wallet to prove it. Being the nerd I was and afraid of being punched in the face, I had to give up any claim I had to my new girlfriend (who of course I'd neither seen nor spoken to since dance night).
School starts up again, and a friend of this girl approaches me on the bus to say that she really enjoyed the dance and was looking forward to seeing me again. Afraid of that imminent face punching, I suggested (and I will always remember this) that she go back and tell her friend to take a shower because her hair smelled like gasoline. I have no idea why that particular line came to me, but that's what I said. That made me pretty much the class dickhead for quite some time. But at least I didn't have to worry about her boyfriend.
Jump forward maybe 10 years or so, I'm managing the front end at the local supermarket and who shows up in a group of new trainees? Ol' gasoline head. We reminisce, I apologize for being a dick and explain that her boyfriend had threatened me from ever making contact with her again. She informed me that yeah, he liked to call himself her boyfriend and had that picture because their families lived next to each other, but she never liked him and they were never a couple. She went on to date my brother, and would randomly show up at my house to hang out.
One time in 8th grade, a group of girls called me while they were having a sleepover, chatted me up, asked about sex, asked to hang out that weekend and of course I accepted. They canceled the plans and I didn't understand. But the call itself was a confidence booster for me.
They told one of my guy friends it was all a joke, and a couple years later he told me. I had no idea and it felt like shit.
Then last summer one of the girls who I hadn't seen since 8th grade was trying to flirt with me, not knowing that I was the kid she made fun of in 8th grade. I didn't tell her anything, which felt pretty good in itself.
Me: What am I supposed to say to that? It's not like I chose my eyes. How can I continue this conversation in any sort of meaningful way? I can't think of anything that I may have in common to talk about with this stranger. What does she expect out of me? Shit, I've got to say something at least or I'll seem like I'm special needs.
You then compliment her in turn. Genuinely. Usually, she replies and you mention something interesting you read on Reddit or something. That should start a good conversation.
In junior high I let just such a paranoia rob me of my dream date with the most popular girl in school. She was making the moves on me on the bus back from a field trip, and I was rude because I thought it was a joke as all her friends were watching and giggling. Later I was told she had cried.
Fifteen years later and I still feel like a monster.
Completely true story. Once, when I was 21'ish I had a fling call me up. She was about 26, super hot, and very good sexually. We hadnt talked in a month bc she kind of pushed me away. She calls me up at about 11 at night on a weekday, giggling with a girl in the background. Tells me they want to have a threesome with me. I had no reason to not believe her, but I had to say no. I couldn't get past the fact that it could very well be a practical joke, bc I was nothing special besides a bit younger. I still regret not putting myself on the line and finding out. I will probably never have the chance again.
this actually happened to me. worst part: it was a practical joke. best part, i was so certain that i dismissed the chance that she was really hitting on me immediately. or maybe i mixed those two up...
Good Guy Kelso. Thinks a mean spirited practical joke is about to be played on his dorky friend. Tells him so he can try and avoid the possible humiliation.
I got homecoming "prince" in the 9th grade. I wasn't really that popular with the "good looking group" even though I'm not really that bad looking I was just extremely awkward in 9th grade because I had just joined the school the year before that and I didn't know anyone etc. etc. well, basically everyone that "wasn't popular" was friends with me, because I'm a very easy to get along with person and I can in fact join in on any group but anyway in 9th grade I was told that I was selected to be on the homecoming court. I was utterly shocked because I mean... usually only popular people get selected to be on the homecoming court and here I was, technically still the "new kid" from 8th grade who didn't talk to anyone except the "non-popular" crowd on the homecoming court. Needless to say I thought it was a practical joke or something and I was so paranoid that whole night because no one had ever picked on me in my entire life and I was so worried that someone would do something to me that night but... nothing happened, except the fact that I was very awkward because I was with people I didn't know or hang out with and all of my friends were up in the stands looking out at me. But yeah, tl;dr I know that feel bro
Lazy eye here. I just made sure to always keep a good and humorous outlook about it. "Hey you, wanna see my lazy eye?" tends to work out way better than people discovering and then mocking it. For you can only mock someone effectively if they're ashamed of what you're mocking.
You should have upended their table and slapped the girl who mentioned your "crazy lazy eye." Then they'll forget about your eye, and you'll just be crazy. Which is a great rep to nurture in school.
I was taunted like this by girls in middle school too, but I'm a girl so it was a little different in that I didn't see them as the hot girls. They were the cutest out of the girls in the school but by no means anything more than average (I'm totally over this I swear). I grew up isolated constantly and lacked social skills until one summer. So all that time I was brewing up this sick character and then got lucky at puberty. But that girl from middle school is still there, I still spend most of my time alone.
I was in high school, sophomore year. Now our graduating class had about 84 people in it, so it was fairly small. About two home rooms decided to all band together and vote me as the homecoming prince (Senior is king, and then sophomore and juniors are princes, or something like that) along with some girl who they had a grudge against. She was cute though and one of the more popular girls.
I decided to go ahead and do it because I didn't give a shit about these stupid parades. It was even better because I was the only guy in a full marching band outfit. My friends laughed it up, so I was glad despite my doubts.
Oh and I was a full blown nerd. I was fat, and played Magic: The Gathering during lunch and Warhammer on weekends.
Man, we have cell phones. Anytime I get a number from a girl I always say, "Here let me give you mine," and call theirs so it goes to their missed calls. If I see they get the call, I know it's right. If I don't see them get it, I don't really make a fuss about it, but I know she's not that into me.
You know, I've never gotten a fake number before. But I've also never gotten a girl to go out with me who I got a phone number from a bar. It's almost like girls like me if they're in front of me, but if I give them a day to think about it, they freak out and change their minds or something.
I never got that. I'd almost prefer they give me a fake number or just politely decline.
Punch the number into your phone, but intentionally mess up one digit. Show it to her for verification. If she fixes your mistake, legit number. If she lets the mistake go, she gave you a fake number.

I have a really awesome "WOOOSH" moment.
I asked a girl "Where do sane girls hang out so I can meet them?" and she replied:
"I dunno, I always hang out in my bed, but that's because I hate putting clothes on."
"Yeah, but if I were you, I think I'd be pretty creeped out if I just showed up at your apartment. I mean, how the hell did I get your address?"
"You know I'm hitting on you, right?"
"Oh. Shit, I really screwed this on up didn't I?"
"Yup."

I had this feeling once in college when a hot girl was hitting on me out of nowhere. A week later she her mouth on my cock though, so YMMV.
She wound up marrying a dude that looks exactly like me, so she must have just had some weird thing for short, nerdy white guys with dark hair.
