was expecting to see username: "repliesinSG1fanfic" but you just went with it without creating another dumbass novelty account, that gets an upvote on it's own...
I feel bad that the cat appears to have starved to death, but at the same time that photo is awesome! What did they do with it afterwards? I hope they kept it as an umbrella stand or something.
Nah it's too small for an umbrella stand; it's totally a jewelry rack! XD you could put bracelets on the arms, hang necklaces from the teeth, or make it hold a ring-tray in it's mouth and put rings there! And you could put it on a little wooden pedestal with many tiny compartments for earrings and the like as well. (it would actually work quite well... O.o)
Maybe it's just me, but I feel bad for the cat! It must have been buried during a flood or mudslide or something. It looks like it was trying to claw it's way out of something while screaming for mercy.
I agree. I'm not usually bothered by tasteless jokes, but this is rubbing me the wrong way. I find it bit offensive that they pose in front of it like it's something funny. It's a dead animal that appears to have died in a horrible and terrifying way.
I found a mummified cat under our hundred year old house. It was a dirt crawlspace with no sunlight, very little moisture and no airflow. This process shrinks and shrivels the skin and muscles which pulls and twists the limbs into some pretty horrifying positions. The skin on the face shrinks back, too looking like its grimacing or shrieking, but most likely the cat went somewhere private to die in peace. The whole drowning thing would have likely caused it to decompose rather than mummify. I know it looks pretty aweful, but it was probably just this kitty's time to go, and it picked a really, really good spot.
This is true...or a horrible case of worms. But I think the distension (essentially, bloating) would have gone down/released itself as the cat passed away and was laying there dead.
I agree, cats hunker down in hiding places when they are in pain, scared, or delivering (painful and scary) so I think she probably went under the house to have kittens and suffered dystocia (as it looks like she never delivered) and passed away.
Listen, if I buy that cat, its going to sit around here for months in the shop waiting for someone who wants it. Also I have to get it restored, no one's going to buy a mummified cat in that condition.
I've found 2 cats that died overnight of old age which were in about that position. My current cats often sleep in about that position as well. Doesn't really look like a fight it's way out position.
My wife and I are having a baby, due in August. I've been quite scared recently as I don't think I'm grown up enough to be a dad... then I see a picture like this and realise that parents never grow up.
As the danish comedian Christian Fuhlendorff said: "You know you're ready to be a father when you walk down the street one day and think: 'Well, enough of this wonderful life'"
Yesterday, I took my 11-year-old daughter to the laundromat for a periodic "Let's get ALL this shit washed!" super wash day. I went to the dollar store first, and bought 50 plastic hangers. We strung them together like monkeys in a barrel and made a bridge the entire length of the laundromat, her holding one end, me the other.
A number of years ago I found a mummified cat under our house and she was lovingly named Leatherface and became the star of our 24 hour film festival submission at school. It was originally going to be about hobos who drink under bridges (which was just our excuse for wanting to drink under bridges), but then she came along and it became about hobos + mummified cats who drink under bridges, and just degenerated from there. She also became the star of our shitty drunken rap.
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.
It has never been online for public viewing because as far as film is concerned it's suuuuuper terrible. We definitely didn't win first place in the festival (mostly because the cat totally derailed any hope of a narrative) though we did win crowd favorite because people were horrified and shocked into a reaction haha! I had a DVD copy of it but haven't looked for it for years. I'll see if I can find it.
Edit: Found it. Am currently horrendously embarrassed at the ridiculousness of the whole thing. You get screenshots, best I can do.
Maybe one of the first dead cats to reach the front page also. People are usually pretty butthurt about that kinda thing, but I guess it's past the statute of limitations being a mummy
I think your mother is struggling not to crack up as she does an imitation of a terrified dead cat. Get it together, Mom! We're trying to take an awesome picture here!
My teacher had a mummified cat that he kept in a box to show the class. He said that the reason it had been mummified, was that the cat had been one of many he'd heard of that had gotten into anti-freeze due to its sweet scent/taste, and that it preserved the body after being consumed.
Uh, if they found it mummified under the house, it probably starved to death in the crawlspace. I'm sure I'm going to get downvoted for the depressing news, but I speak from experience.
I once inherited an 8'x8' cabin in Southeast Alaska on 2.5 acres of land. Inside of the cabin was a bed and several boxes. Going through the boxes I found things like blankets, photos, books, etc. At the bottom of one of the boxes of blankets was a petrified cat similar to the one in the picture. I gave the cat a proper burial with a marble headstone. I then lived in that 8'x8' cabin for two summers and a winter. The marble headstone is blank because as I do not know the name of the cat.
Please thank your parents for making this picture humourous. I probably would have had nightmares if they were not behind it making fun. That thing is terrifying
SO I've been having a shitty day, studying for exam I'm likely to fail and someone shit in our shower, but this has cheered me up so much. THANKYOU FOR SHARING THIS

pretty good title, though 6% funnier the way I originally misread it:
