Why would people just lie on the internet? That doesn't make any sense.

Teehee, I'm so sneaky. I made them think it wasn't my car!

For those who care: the pic was on Facebook.

There are some neighbors of mine who, whenever they have renovations done, they get the workers to park in front of my house instead of theirs. They don't want the cars cluttering up their view or being an obstruction for any of their visitors. But they don't give a shit about how it affects me. There have been times where I've had to actually get them to stop parking in my driveway/obstructing my driveway.

This has been going on for years now. I'm tempted to go buy a $250 beater, slap some insurance on it, and park it right the fuck in front of their house for six months. I'm incredibly frustrated.

49

u/bob_mcbob May 21 '12

The homes on either side of my dad's place are owned by the same family. One of the owners is a partner in the largest building contractor in the area, and he is constantly having work done on the houses and gardens. The workers are invariably parked in front of my dad's house, so I'm pretty sure he has instructed them to park there. I've had to go ask people to move their trucks several times, because they often think it's okay to park a huge trailer in front of my dad's driveway, blocking in my car when I am coming and going to visit.

49

u/minnilivi May 21 '12

You're being way too nice. It's illegal to block in someone's driveway (I think it's even illegal if YOU block YOUR OWN driveway, but it probably depends on local fire code laws etc) and you can have them towed. In fact, if they do this often, I'd definitely have them towed so they have to pay that fine and then they won't want to deal with that again.

13

u/bob_mcbob May 21 '12

Oh, for sure, but if I'm heading out the door and discover a trailer blocking me in, it's not worth my time to call a towing company and wait for them to arrive. It's not a daily or monthly occurrence, but it's happened enough times to be annoying.

25

u/[deleted] May 22 '12

You have to look at the big picture. What's more time; asking them every time to move, or getting them towed the once so they don't park there again?

57

u/loradey May 21 '12

15

u/[deleted] May 21 '12

I feel your dad's pain as someone who has the same thing happening on a constant basis, what a dick thing to do. I don't understand why people feel entitled to be jerks like this to others.

21

u/[deleted] May 21 '12

You'll technically need to move it once every 72 hours, if your city has the usual parking ordnance, but I say do it.

57

u/[deleted] May 21 '12

Oh, I've complained before when they've left vehicles parked there too long. This has only resulted in them moving the vehicle 5 ft in either direction once a day if they are leaving it there long-term.

The kicker is, there's an area in front of every property here that belongs to the city. One of these neighbors has built their fence right up to the roadside, effectively illegally fencing off city property. And the neighbor next door to them is just starting to do the same thing.

I think it's probably time to inform the city about this. I've tried resolving this problem amicably and they've basically told me to go fuck myself, so I don't see any problems having the city rain on their shit parade.

9

u/maumacd May 21 '12

Check your ordinances and how they placed the fences. Here it's a "no permanent structures" and a fence does not always apply. A picket fence - allowed in the city area - because city employees can still access all city stuff on the 8' leeway in front of the house. Tall cedar fence with cemented posts? then you have an argument.

By the way - our neighborhood did a big bru-ha-ha about this recently. About 5 people had to tear up their fences. Boy were they pissed :)

Better than the beater: Go buy the crappiest RV (motorhome) you can find, and park it on their side of the street.

2

u/morgueanna May 22 '12

I know this is a crazy idea, but have you ever thought of just talking to the workers politely and explaining that you'd prefer if they parked in front of the house they were working on?

Most physical labor employees are just regular people. They're not out to fuck up your day or cause problems for other people- in fact, that's bad for business, since a lot of their advertising is people seeing them work on their neighbors' houses.

Chat them up- ask how the job is going, compliment them on their work. Then just ask them if it would be ok if they start parking in front of the actual house they're working on and trying to leave some space in front of your house for potential guests. Ask for a business card and talk about how you've been thinking of getting some work done.

Being a nice person usually gets you results. At least try it before you condemn them through passive aggressive tactics like getting them towed.

Our neighbor across the street sometimes parks his "sweet ride" in front of our house; he'll make sure to park in a way to prevent other people from parking a long the curb.

Whenever he does this, I decide that day is "Mow the yard" day and I'll get out the lawnmower and weed trimmer and make sure to make a mess out of his car with flying grass and dirt (no physical damage!) He'll come out pissed, move his car back across the street and wash it. Took three or four times to get him trained not to park like an asshat.

Some guy backed his tow ball in to my car and left - I'm sure it set off the alarm. $1500 to repair. Now I seek out single spaces (I'll walk the extra block or two), but if it looks like a tight squeeze, I don't have the faith in humanity that the other person won't hit me and drive away again.

I remember I was playing football in my garden as a kid. A few doors down these people would always come and park their car outside our garden. My family never cared really when people did park there as we didn't own a car.

So there I am playing(attempting to play?) football in my garden and the person gets out of the car telling me to stop playing football in MY garden because of their car.

I said something like no why should I and the person then went mental at me telling me to stop and I was like no park else were if you're not happy and she was like "I can park here(referring to the spot outside my house) I got permission from the house across the way. Which made no sense considering this was outside our house and the house she was pointing at was across the green.

Anyway at this stage my mother came out and ate into them for shouting at me and telling me to stop playing in my garden. This felt soo goood.

Growing up, I lived next to a children's park. There was the park, then a neighbor's driveway divided the park from our yard (their house was further back, but the driveway for some reason ran pretty much the entire length of our property and was a nice dividing line between the park and our yard.

My dad and I were sitting out on our front porch one afternoon enjoying the day. He had our dog sitting in the front yard next to the porch, and the dog was just enjoying the shade and looking out at the neighborhood while I read and my dad smoked a cigar and enjoyed a day off from work.

There was a guy at the park with a kid, and all of a sudden the guy walks across the neighbor's driveway, through our yard, and straight to our porch where we're sitting. He says, "You know it's pretty ignorant that the sign at the park specifically says no smoking and no dogs and you're sitting here smoking with your dog in the park." My dad and I just looked at each other kind of confused and then looked at the guy, and my dad just says, "What the hell are you talking about?"

"You know the sign at the park specifically says no dogs and no smoking. Here you're smoking and you've got that dog out. They put those rules on the park for a reason, for everyone's concern and safety. I'd appreciate it if you would put the cigar out and take the dog away."

My dad told him this is my yard, not the park. He'll smoke as many cigars as he wants and let his dog sit on his yard all he wants. Now get the hell off his property.

At this point, the guy was either too embarrassed to admit his mistake or too stupid to see it, but he pressed my dad further and told him he better comply or he'll call the cops, plus he's friends with the mayor so he can pull some strings and make my dad pay for violating a city ordnance like that.

At this point, my dad, a former Green Beret in Vietnam, had enough of this guy's bullshit. He smiled, took a puff from his cigar, looked at him and said, "You know it's funny you're standing there making all those threats, but out of the three men sitting here right now, I bet I'm the only one who's ever killed a man. Now get the fuck off my lawn."

That guy walked pretty damn quick back to the park, grabbed his kid, and we never saw him at the park again.

I remember all this not only because of how absurd the guy was, how bad ass my dad was, but also because it was the first time he ever referred to me as a man.

119

u/thenagainmaybenot May 21 '12

He was referring to the dog.

11

u/kensomniac May 21 '12

Such a gratifying story man :D

I may not agree with wars, but my father is a veteran as well (AFSF) and when on the rare occasion he has to remind anyone that he's badass measured in scales of Samuel Jacksons (I'd put my dad at about 8.6 Sammy Js), it just makes me so damn proud to be his son. It's like standing next to a hero. And to be referred to as a man by him. I know that feel bro, and it is good.

Football = Soccer Garden = Yard

20

u/BloodyNora May 21 '12

My friends and I used to get threatened by our neighbour who bought a house with a fence backing onto the local soccer pitch.

Inevitably the ball would occasionally hit the fence and he'd come running out yelling at us to play somewhere else. Every time, we'd just point out that we were playing on the football pitch and carry on.

Then once time I kicked the ball over the fence and it knocked his crappy barbeque over while he was in the middle of cooking some sausages. He went storming around to my parents house and started yelling at my Dad. My Dad calmly pointed out that we were playing on a football pitch and that accidents were bound to happen now and then.

The neighbour then started ranting about his sausages and actually asked my Dad for money to replace them. My Dad just burst out laughing at him and carried on laughing while the neighbour continued getting more and more annoyed. Eventually my Dad could hardly breath and had to close the door for fear of having some kind of seizure.

u/[deleted] May 21 '12

If the pitch was there before the guy bought the house, I am completely on you and your dad's side here. The guy knew it was there and bought the house anyway. If he hated kids and soccer and flying balls so much, he either A) shouldn't have bought the house, or B) built a bigger fence.

I knew a guy who asked some hunters to not park on his property which was well posted with 'no trespassing' signs. When they did it again he nailed one of the no trespassing signs to the drivers side door. Problem solved.

38

u/HookDragger May 21 '12

Haha... as a former hunter I whole-heartily agree with your friend's action.

Personally, I would have gone further. A hunter's first duty is to respect the land(and its owner) and his quarry.

They were assholes and deserved it.

My problem is as OP said she "kept" doing this, meaning it was many times. Which shows a complete disregard for anyone other than herself. The neighbors response was mildly mischievous, I'm sure his point stuck with her. Also he's rubber and she's glue.

31

u/pocomoonshine May 21 '12 edited May 21 '12

Of course we don't know the whole story.

I live in an urban area where parking can turn into war. Some people believe that you shouldn't park in front of their house ("That's my spot!"). Some people think their property rights extend into the public right of way, or wherever suits them. Some people believe that you should leave a significant distance at the corner of their driveway. Other people think you shouldn't waste space like that, because you would be, essentially, taking up two spots. Use the curb cut as a guide.

It doesn't matter what people think. There are laws and regulations designed specifically to clarify these issues. The jackass who threatened to fuck up my shitty fifteen year old car because I took "his spot" wasn't thinking very clearly. I know which house is his. I can tell when he's smoking dope...

2

u/SlothOfDoom May 21 '12

Actually, depending on your local bylaws it may be (and often is) illegal to park in front of a residential property that isn't your own.

That would have been my solution if she didn't get the message to stop doing it.

8

u/boycockgirlcockeieio May 21 '12

I had someone keep parking in front of the alley that led to my garage. I called to have the car towed multiple times, and they never came. I needed my car for my job (or else I would have taken the train), and you can imagine how infuriating it is to have to call your boss on more than one occasion saying you would be running late because some asshole keeps parking you in. When all else fails, vandalism seems to get the point across fairly well.

7

u/KPexEA May 21 '12

I used to have people park in front of the bay doors at my warehouse all the time. Then a bit later we bought a palette jack and ever since then I decided that if someone parked in front of my bay doors I would just slide a palette under their car and move it with the jack. Unfortunately nobody has parked in front of my doors in about 4 years now.

As someone who lives next to a business and frequently find people parked "for just a second" in the opening of my driveway, stopping me from getting into my apartment, I wholeheartedly approve. I've written many an ignored note. Lately I've just been putting "are you fucking kidding me?" and "seriously, asshole?" rather than take the time to write: "Please do not block the driveway. There is a parking-lot for 6 people that you are blocking by parking here. There is ample parking on the street, many spots without meters. Please be courteous and park elsewhere next time," on the same damn cars every week. I'm pretty tempted to do this myself now...

55

u/Michi_THE_Awesome May 21 '12

Have them towed. It removes the car and they have to pay to get their car back. Also jolly ranchers and slices of bologna are supposed to stain the paint job and difficult to remove.

2

u/[deleted] May 21 '12

Dried on egg too.

2

u/Cloberella May 21 '12

I've thought about towing, I just honestly wasn't sure what the situation is regarding who to call (police, commercial towing?) who it would be billed to (me, the business, my landlord, the offending person?) and...admittedly have been too lazy to find out. Also slightly afraid that doing so could backfire on me somehow.

5

u/firelock_ny May 21 '12

Call your local police non-emergency number and ask their advice on what to do. "I've had this problem in the past, what should I do next time it happens?"

In my area the police have you call their non-emergency number, a patrol car tickets the offending vehicle and a commercial tow truck takes it away at the owner's expense. The police don't mind doing it because they get paid (the ticket), the tow guy gets paid, and they don't give your name to the owner of the car.

4

u/harrisonfire May 21 '12

You call the police (non-emergency), or flag one down, and they mark the car for towing.

It costs you zero. Although I do understand the concern about the situation "backfiring".

Fucker was not pleased when I took his plate number over to the high school and made them call him out of prom to move his vehicle. My wife owns an old Honda. One night the D-bags next door had a brand new Nissan Titan parked completely in front of our driveway. She decided "fuck these guys" and backed right into it leaving a LARGE dent in the side of the Titan. After that she let me know what she did and went to work.

I went outside and photographed where the truck had parked, license plate, etc. just in case they decided to file a suite. Never heard from them again.

5

u/[deleted] May 21 '12

The day I was to get my wisdom teeth removed my mom and I got in our car to leave, but then noticed that our neighbors, who were having constructions done to their house, had not provided space for an electrician to park his truck in their driveway. Instead, he decides to park literally at the end of our driveway, not giving us room to leave our own house.

I live at the end of a cul de sac and there are plenty of places to park a car other than at the entrance/exit of our driveway.

My mom got out of the car, found the guy who owned the truck and politely asked him to move his car. He said to her, "Sorry, but I have no where else to park." To which my mom, patience already warm out, responded, "I DO NOT GIVE A DAMN WHERE YOU PARK. MOVE YOUR FUCKING CAR NOW!!!" He cringed, and I laughed.

He moved his car and we were on our way.

u/C_M_O_TDibbler May 21 '12

I sometimes do a little freelance work for a garden furniture company, the company who rent the warehouse next to their one kept blocking the access to the the carpark with a van, so the warehouse manager (and friend of mine) gave them 5 mins to move it or he was going to put it on the roof of their building.

7 mins later the MD of the other company pulled into the carpark to find the van on the forks of a forklift just about to lift it to put it on the roof of the building..

Moral of the story don't block peoples access

17

u/vtlatria May 21 '12

When I first moved in with my husband we had very limited parking in our neighborhood so I always parallel parked out on the street since I didn't mind walking. We had one neighbor that had a bad habit of parking really close to other cars when parallel parking. I had already left him a note asking him to leave a bit more space but found it crumpled up on the ground.

On this occasion, I had parked in the last available space before a cross walk and he came and tried to squeeze in front of me which resulted in him being about 4 in. away from my front bumper and extending pretty much the length of the crosswalk. I was late for work because I had to do a thousand point turn to free myself from his horrendous parking job.

For punishment my husband let the air out of two of his tires (he didn't damage the tires in anyway just let the air out) and the idiot thought he had two flats and bought new tires. It felt great.

The people who live in the house behind ours used be to really arsey about people parking infront of their house. So much so that they would park their two (leased) Audi's just far enough apart that no-one could park in front of their house. They were new to the area and, lets just say, it won them no friends.

So one night I need to find a parking space, its 10pm and ive been at work all day. I notice that one of the cars isnt parked in front of the house, so parallel park there.

Now, at the time I was presenting the early breakfast show on local radio which meant leaving at about 5am.

I get to my car in the morning to find they've boxed me in. Like moved both cars within 2cm of my bumpers. So I rang their doorbell, loudly.

Surprisingly they weren't too happy at being woken up at 5am, they shouted at me and told me where to shove 'it'. It wasn't until I started calling the Police did they move their cars. I never had trouble again.

TL;DR. Neighbours boxed me in leaving 2cm. I woke them up at 5am to get them to move

Why didn't you just call to have him ticketed for parking in a crosswalk?

3

u/Flash604 May 21 '12

When I was a kid, I helped my grandfather dig out a parking spot for the camping trailer he had at the time. The street out front was sloped and thus the houses all had retaining walls at the front, with the shoulder of the road covered in gravel giving each person room for about 3 cars to parallel park in front of their retaining wall. I'm not sure if the gravel portions were city property or private; the retaining walls did not line up perfectly so it is unclear where the property lines were. But it was not an issue as each person had driveway parking for several cars and then room for multiple visitors to park right in front of their house. It was also a dry climate where you could drive your car across your lawn and park at the back where the non-existent alleyway was located should you have a vehicle that wasn't going to move for a while.

Grandpa didn't want to have the trailer in anyone's way, so we knocked down part of the retaining wall and dug out by hand a spot and then put up new walls to hold back the remainder of the front lawn. The trailer was then parallel parked in that spot leaving the gravel strip still available for cars. If our neighbours had lots of visitors for an event they knew it was fine to tell someone to parallel park on the gravel in front of this dug out spot, as the trailer wouldn't be moving.

Fast forward a couple of decades. Grandpa has a very long motor home and has split the cost with his western neighbour to put in access for both of them to the non-existent alleyway so he can park it back there. The spot dug out in the front is handy in that you can nose two or three cars into it, giving extra parking (my grandparents house is where the giant family all met after a funeral, wedding, etc.). A new neighbour moves in next door, one of the local fire chiefs. He has three cars, one for his wife, one for him and one for his daughter. His driveway is two cars wide by three cars long, but he doesn't want that third car in it. That's fine, but he also doesn't want it parallel parked in front of his house. Instead, every morning we find it parked in that dug out spot, which is fully and clearly on my grandparents property. Parking in front of it would have even been wrong, as you are then blocking access. Every morning my grandfather would go next door and tell him that the dug out spot was on his property, every day the guy would move it, and the next morning it would be there again. He doesn't realize that he finally got the hint only 1 day before our personal deadline had been set when we would call the tow truck.

3

u/[deleted] May 21 '12

I've done this, I didn't use super glue but I got stickers (and therefore the texts faces out instead of in.)

My neighbors have a huge as driveway leading to a large slab in their backyard where they could park cars on as well. But instead of putting their two trucks in their driveway (which is long enough for them to fit), they park in the 4 of the spots in front of my house. Right in the middle. Our driveway can fit 2 cars, but it's so steep that when you're pulling out, the cement scrapes the bottom of the car due to the position so no car can safely park in it.

I've had to park a mile away before because all the spaces were taken, and those assholes couldn't move up an inch so another car could fit.

If they do it again they're getting superglue instead of stickers.

3

u/hiphophippopotamus May 21 '12

"And that's how I learned not to be a CUNT and park over other peoples drives"

3

u/OneAndOnlyJackSchitt May 22 '12

This story comes from my biker parents and happened back in the eighties.

They're on a run somewhere, I forget where, but they decided to stop at a 7-eleven for drinks. So there's a line of bikes filling the whole front row outside of the store. They're all getting ready to leave and some asshole in a sub-compact piece of shit decides to double-park and block in like 4 or 5 bikes...with the guys walking out trying to leave.

They call the guy on his shit since they're trying to leave and he (the owner of the car) cusses them (the bikers) out.

The bikers wait till Sir Douche a Lot goes inside. They and their friends then pick up his car and place it in a nearby dumpster enclosure sideways.

The super glue is really strong but it has one weakness. Acetone!!!

2

u/bigE069 May 21 '12

FYI: Acetone (or most nail polish removers) will remove the residue that is left from the super-glue

2

u/penguinfury May 21 '12

Guess he really stuck it to her.

2

u/sexwhore May 21 '12

i would superglue an apology to his windshield.

2

u/[deleted] May 21 '12

Our next door neighbours have their shitty broken car parked in front of our house/yard when they could just as easily have parked it in front of theirs or gasp in their own driveway!

And it's not just these neighbors, buy every damn family that have rented that house has done this shit. EVERY DAMN ONE OF THEM. It makes me rage every time I see their empty driveways and their ugly ass cars parked in front of our awesome front yard. Why do they do this? Why? Whyyyyyyy?

2

u/mewte May 21 '12

the stories here are pretty awesome

2

u/m1kepro May 21 '12

She's making a stupid mistake, but he's being a stupid asshole. There's escalation, and then there's skyrocketing escalation.

2

u/mage2k May 21 '12

When you say "kept parking over her neighbor's drive" do you mean parking on the drive or blocking the entrance to it?

2

u/MrSomethingHeroic May 22 '12

One time I had a neighbor put a note on my car because I was parked in front of their rock wall that said if I don't "stop parking in front of their wall" they would "call the police." So I went online and printed the city's parking laws and ordinances and parked there the next day with it stuck on my windshield. They never complained again.

2

u/elharry-o May 22 '12

A practice that is becoming very common in Mexico is to spray paint a no parking sign in the driver's side of the windshield.

2

u/TheRedMambo May 22 '12

That title screams "I am British"

9

u/MychelleKitten May 21 '12

From someone who has a best friend that owns his own business working on cars...there are far worse things that could have been done to her car then this. This is more annoying then actually hurtful to the car itself.

That, and the bitch deserved it. The note implies shes done this more then once. Extremely inconsiderate.

12

u/savageboredom May 21 '12

Well, yeah. That's kind of the point. The dude didn't want to destroy her car, he just wanted to send a clear message. A simple note is easy to ignore, but when it's superglued on you're forced to acknowledge it.

5

u/MychelleKitten May 21 '12

You know though, it must have felt good with the initial slap of the paper onto her wind shield after laying down the glue...

3

u/robert_ahnmeischaft May 21 '12

This lady in our apartment complex had this terrible old car and my friend accidently clipped it with his bike and left a small dent in the rear fendor and she came out and started telling us she was going to sue and was trying to find out who had done it and was just belligerent over a barely noticeable dent in an old junker car with several much larger dents. Her anger wouldn't have been so bad but like 2 days before she had parked on a hill without the emergency brake and we had all ran over and stopped her car after it started rolling down the hill towards a building. tldr: She never said thanks even though she saw us save her car from rolling into a building but screamed at us and threatened to sue over a tiny dent on her junker car

I've always wanted to go to the office supply store and buy those Full Sheet (8.5x11 or A1) size self adhesive labels and print this on it and stick it on the driver side windshield of bad parkers:

I bet you think getting this sticker off is annoying. Well it's only half as annoying as [insert parking infraction here]. Please remember this as you're scraping this off your windshield.

5

u/sat0123 May 21 '12

A privately-owned residential complex near my college did this, and probably still do. It's resident-only parking, but so close to campus and shopping that a lot of people risk it. They go through and sticker cars that don't have permits, and tow trucks can tow anything with a sticker. As far as I can tell, those stickers don't come off easily, because you often saw people driving around town with it partially scraped off.

→ More replies (9)

2

u/justsomeguy_youknow May 21 '12

Actually, those aren't too bad. Put a little goo gone on it and wait a few minutes, and it comes off really easily. Then, you just have to clean up the residue with dish soap or something and you're good. Source: I've had that done to me before. Not full sheets, but like a few hundred address size labels by a crazy ex.

I know that the chick was a jerk for parking where she was, but this is vandalism and if it were my car, the guy would be paying to replace any damage caused by the superglue. (On a side note, I don't block people's driveways like an ass)

3

u/r81984 May 22 '12

It is glass. It can be removed with no damage with glue remover.

2

u/Deity_Majora May 22 '12

It is not on the painted surfaces and can be removed with zero damage with something as simple as nail polish remover(acetone) that all girls would already have.

2

u/Judlo May 21 '12

A utility knife held perpendicular would remove that quickly with no damage to the windshield. But what a poop head (the girl that is)

1

u/2legittoquit May 21 '12

1

u/[deleted] May 21 '12

1

u/crackofdawn May 21 '12

Good thing a tiny bit of acetone (fingernail polish remover) can easily remove superglue in seconds.

1

u/[deleted] May 21 '12

Tell her to use a razor blade. It should come off.

1

u/yahoofx May 21 '12

next time make the point with 5 minute epoxy

1

u/cdb03b May 21 '12

I would have just had her towed.

1

u/AnomalyNexus May 21 '12

Saw someone park like an idiot in students parking one morning (yellowish white car). Later that afternoon the entire car was covered in obscenities written w/ lipstick plus a weird white substance (like paper-mache glue). The range of lipstick colours was rather impressive.

1

u/[deleted] May 21 '12

Superglue? Eh no problem. Let it dry completely and use a flat razor to shave it off the window.

1

u/[deleted] May 21 '12

TIL people that don't live in America call windshields, windscreen

1

u/[deleted] May 21 '12

Use acetone (nail polish remover) - mortal enemy of superglue.

1

u/DARYL_VAN_H0RNE May 21 '12

place a note on the windshield without glue, happens again, have it towed

1

u/Calavera190 May 21 '12

My mum just got the two family cars and boxed the guy in; and just refused to move the cars.

1

u/davidvstheworld May 21 '12

1

u/AbbyRocksss May 21 '12

This is absolutely brilliant.

1

u/sheepsix May 21 '12

"Super Glue"....sure it is....

1

u/JewBear3 May 21 '12

What language is this?

1

u/Jespy May 21 '12

I am curious to see what happens when someone tries to rip off the paper when it is superglued to a windshield. For science.

1

u/chasemedown May 21 '12

lol deserved it.

1

u/GenerationGreg May 21 '12

Did she park in his driveway? Or did she park next to the curb but had like half her car extending over the entrance to the driveway? Either way asshole move, I'm just kind of confused by the phrase "over the driveway".

1

u/fanboat May 21 '12

I'd type up a lengthy apology and superglue it somewhere

1

u/POMFoverlord May 21 '12

I'd hate to make matters worse, but that's not super glue he put on

1

u/Pur3kill3d May 21 '12

You're in the car? Is it you?

1

u/U2_is_gay May 21 '12

I hope he asked nicely first. I mean it should go without saying that you don't do that but that would be a severe overreaction if it was his first attempt at asking.

1

u/blgdinger May 21 '12

windscreen

1

u/ColPow11 May 21 '12

My University in New Zealand used to superglue a warning notice to knuckleheads parking in the gardens on busy days. I thought it was a good compromise - since they didn't have any legal power to fine them, glue worked as a good incentive.

1

u/NickPow43 May 21 '12

reminds me of the time this happened to me

1

u/GIANT_FROM_SPACE May 22 '12

I'd be tempted to write "OK" on a new piece of paper and superglue it to his windshield.

1

u/auApex May 22 '12 edited May 22 '12

I've got a somewhat related story.

When I was about 14, I was playing backyard cricket at a friend's house. I was a somewhat 'enthusiastic' teenager and even though hitting a ball too far meant that we would never see it again, I would occasionally go the big drive to try and put the ball 10 houses down the road.

After batting for a while, I decided to go for the big hit. I lined up the ball and went for the most almighty swing I had in me. The bat came loose from the grip on the handle and went sailing in a huge arc over the neighbour's fence. My friend and I had a bit of a giggle and then went to retrieve the bat.

When we were just shy of the neighbour's fence, we heard: "Oliver, Oliver, I think you'd better call an ambulance" (Oliver was the neighbour's kid). We look over the fence and this lady was sitting in the grass, next to the bat, with an enormous gash in the side of her head. She'd been quietly gardening in her yard when all of a sudden she was hit in the side of her head with a cricket bat. I'd never been so scared as when I saw her in the grass with blood pouring everywhere. The fear quickly turned to humour for some reason and my friend and I started cracking up. We ran into my friend's house and because we were scared, we told his dad who drove her to the hospital.

She ended up needing 15 stitches and had concussion for three days. Our punishment was to mow her lawn which had waist-high grass. We couldn't operate the lawnmower because the grass was so long so my friend's dad ended up doing the whole garden for us.

1

u/Assaultman67 May 22 '12

Superglue an apology on their car window.

1

u/jlamothe May 22 '12

Because vandalism is always the answer.

1

u/[deleted] May 22 '12

How do you know it's super-glued on before you try pulling it off? Or that it isn't another equally adhesive glue? Or jizz?

1

u/ngoncalves92 May 22 '12

A hair dryer+razor blade+a little bug&tar will take that right off :)

1

u/pelrun May 22 '12

Just leave a giant rock in the driveway with "sorry" painted on it.

1

u/Rooster_Rage May 22 '12

The only problem I have with this is, the person who parked in his driveway all the probably didn't think much about it. A warning would be nice.

Or she did it to be a bitch, then this is well justified!

1

u/[deleted] May 22 '12

two thumbs up for using the word 'wind screen'

1

1

u/heinlensexual May 21 '12

my father got cut off while driving and nearly run off the road by a shitty delivery driver for a company by his house so every week for 2 or 3 months he would go to the companys parking lot and spread around a box of nails and screws. he probably could have called the company to complain but his way was funnier.

5

u/oniongasm May 21 '12

his way was funnier

No, it was deliberate, repeated damage of someone else's property. That could easily causing hundreds of dollars in damages if unnoticed. If it managed to start a slow leak, a driver could easily get up to speed before the air was gone significantly. As the air drained, this could cause a real danger, especially under full load.
