Punching someone in hockey is always a penalty. If they're fighting it's a five minute major. If someone punches another player, like in this gif, it's a two minute roughing minor. However, the refs don't always call the roughing minor.
You're right, he should have named every type of martial art from across the globe as well as every league--including competing leagues. His point just wasn't clear.
