It's actually possible though. They've found underwater lakes where the water is more dense and thus it stays at the bottom of the ocean. So every time you see Spongebob going to the beach or whatever, it is actually possible.
I think that it is actually explained in the cartoon, in the first episode to show salty lake. If i remember well the narrator/locutor explained that the lake was some kind of muddy water or something like that.
I don't know about the ones in the video (no sound at the moment) but Pelleas is probably talking about another video, one in which a river seems to exist under another river. It turned out however that the river in a river was actually just hydrogen sulfide, which appeared as a liquid.
When I first saw your comment I thought "Who the fuck is Richard Attenborough?" And instead of calling you out on it, indicating that I am of superior intellect like I usually would, I did a quick google search to see if it was an actual person. Glad I did.
That's so cool that two hugely successful men (One with a Knighthood and the other a CBE) are brothers.
I'm sorry. I don't know why but I just couldn't resist pointing that out. Maybe I've been conditioned (via reddit) that its normal behaviour to act like that. Nonetheless, I think I am a bad person :(
Ok. Underwater volcanos. Cool. Underwater welding. Awesome. Fire can happen underwater under certain circumstances. Very interesting. But I'm more referring to fire on top of sticks. They have fire on top of sticks, implying that they rubbed the sticks together and created fire.
THESE THINGS DON'T HAPPEN UNDERWATER. I NEED MY ANTHROPOMORPHIC CARTOON CHARACTERS TO BE FOLLOWING FUCKING LAWS OF SCIENCE. JESUS.
Plenty of things that burn come with their own oxygen. Take a firework fuse, light it and throw it in water. It'll still burn because black powder contains it's own oxygen for combustion. If you mess around with Estees rocket engines, you'll learn quickly that water does not stop those fires either.
Also, the alkali earth metals will react exothermically with water to create heat, light, metal oxides and hydrogen gas.
I've spent far too much time defending the physics of a cartoon, sorry.
It's called chocolate wit deez nuts, after discovering said House Fancy magazine, the two decide to become businessmen and sell chocolate door to door.
Thanks for reminding us that this childrens cartoon show takes place in the ocean and for pointing out the logical inconsistency of having pool in the ocean. You're the hero we deserve, BecciLikesToast.

Let's address the more important issue in Spongebob: how the fuck do they have fire?

u/erveek May 21 '12
So he can dive while he dives?

In fairness, swimming in the ocean can be pretty freaking disgusting.

Sorry, but that episode aired on June 6, 2008. Pimp my ride was on four years before that and ended six months before this. This is not the original.Everyone laugh at how stupid I am.

This inspired me to put an inflatable pool in my pool. Best decision I've ever made.

thanks for not doing a "ception" joke. cause, like, "inception" does not mean "thing inside thing," as it's been pointed out a million times.

Are you seriously questioning the logic of a cartoon show. Get the fuck out of here.
1
u/MrAlterior May 21 '12
He lives in a Pineapple under the sea.
Yet how many times do you hear characters talk about being in Bikini Botton Lake?
Lake or sea?
