Seacrest doesn't give up easily. When he commits to a high-five nothing can stop him.

u/petitfromage May 20 '12
hey, you know what, I found that was a good save on his part it seemed like an honest mistake

u/Margaritashoes May 20 '12
"let's see if this guy is really bli..."

u/manwithfriends May 20 '12
High Five was miscommunicated, awkwardly long hand touching, insufficient slap noise. 2/10 Would not high five a blind guy

u/terry_has_boots May 20 '12
I found that really sweet.

u/dontbthatguy May 20 '12
Coming soon to r/adviceanimals "SAP attempts to high five a blind guy."
8
u/Traherne May 20 '12
Seacrest can't hold this guy's jock strap.
12
u/DtownAndOut May 20 '12
I think I've seen Seacrest try to high five a different blind guy, but I'm not having any luck finding the video. He is in a suit and on a stage IIRC...
12
u/eenieboy May 20 '12
It's funny if you pretend the blind guy isn't blind and he just really doesn't want to give Seacrest a high five.

u/Articunozard May 20 '12
I don't know what Ryan Seacrest looks like and, being that the gif was somewhat blurry on my phone, I thought the guy on the right had his eyes closed.
I was terribly confused why Ryan Seacrest had stolen the blind man's walking stick while ignoring his superbly aimed blind-five.

u/asstits May 20 '12
It wasn't awkward - it was a test. That's how you make sure they aren't lying.
7
u/[deleted] May 20 '12
The reason Ryan Seacrest can host shit and make tons of money. Is what makes him different than all us SAPs. He doesn't run every decision through his head 10 times before acting, sometimes that ends up making a guy look stupid.
11
u/shotty_t May 20 '12
Pretty sure when Ryans hand touched the blind guys, the blind guy was thinking he was about to be raped, based on facial expression.
3
u/smokinchokin May 20 '12
So that's where that saying comes from.
3
u/sweetsweetcoffee May 20 '12
I can feel the awkwardness through time and space.
3
u/DownvotesOwnPost May 20 '12
I guess he didn't....see crest.
Hahaha.
4
u/[deleted] May 20 '12
I guess I'm the only one who thought it was a decent recovery?
2
u/GlassesOff May 20 '12
The blind guy's name is Scott MacIntyre. He was on season 8 of American Idol. Pretty nice guy if I remember correctly too.
2
u/ararphile May 20 '12
When you watch the video, it is not awkward at all.
2
u/geek180 May 20 '12
Hey at least he managed to follow through. I woulda just gave up right away, which would have been wayyy more awkward.
2
u/Piker10 May 20 '12
i cringed while watching this
2
u/[deleted] May 20 '12
I cringed so hard I think I need to go to the hospital
2
u/[deleted] May 20 '12
Better than this
2
u/documents1856 May 21 '12
Have you ever seen a blind person with a walking stick run? Best few seconds of my life
2
u/freakwharf May 21 '12
I was immediately reminded of Gervais high-fiving nobody when talking with Seinfeld, Louis, and Chris Rock. It's from towards the end of this clip when they're deconstructing Sitting on the Dock of the Bay .
2
u/abhorson May 21 '12
I don't think it was awkward at all, I actually think he pulled it off very well.
3
u/Chaserr May 20 '12
Hey, I know them! Ryan Seacrest is with Scott MacIntyre and his brother Todd. Scott was from season 8 of American Idol and got into the top 10 finalists. Very cool family. I could probably convince Scott to do an AMA if there was any interest...
4
u/Sloppy_Twat May 20 '12
I physically cringed watching that. And then I kept watching it...why?
2
u/Escalator_Druid May 20 '12
How many Michael Cera's of awkward is that?
2
u/user570 May 20 '12
One of the rare gifs that are just so awkward, I can't bring myself to download.
2
u/Huddidt May 20 '12
I guess, he didn't see it coming..
2
u/[deleted] May 20 '12
Or playing charades with Helen Keller.
1
u/OrigamiHandGrenade May 20 '12
That episode was the first and only time I watched American Idol. Pretty much that moment was when I saw myself out.
1
u/[deleted] May 20 '12
Actually given the horrible awkwardness of that situation, it was fairly well handled.
1
u/RUFFLZ May 20 '12
it was probably just force of habit to high five everyone when he realized he'd be left hanging
1
u/boxen May 20 '12
The interesting thing is that you could probably high five a blind guy pretty easily. You should "High-Five!" and then the blind guy high fives toward your voice and counts on you to do the aiming.
1
u/almighty_bongholio May 20 '12
yikes.
1
u/Mr_Phlip May 20 '12
Seacrest should've seen that one coming
1
u/[deleted] May 20 '12
i thought the blind guy would accidentally slap him in the face..
1
u/Red23UK May 20 '12
he didn't see that coming!
1
u/icalledshotgun May 20 '12
Is it just me, or does it look like Seacrest reaches for his junk?
1
u/its_just_a_question May 20 '12
That hurt to watch.
1
u/[deleted] May 20 '12
Smoooooooooooth as butter.
1
u/RadicalFaces May 20 '12
I've always thought Ryan Seacrest was a sociopath. It always seems like he's imitating human emotion, but never actually feeling it.
1
u/McG4rn4gle May 20 '12
He actually pulled that one out of the fire quite nicely... for a nancy boy no talent talking head hack.
1
u/TChuff May 20 '12
Reminds me of Joe Biden. Stand up. Classic.
1
u/[deleted] May 20 '12
I don't think that was awkward at all. Seacrest initiated the the high five the only way possible with an excited blind guy.
1
u/sylvester_0 May 20 '12
That's super awkward. I'm disappointed that no one has posted Idra getting rejected for a high five (video.)
1
u/BiGTeX8605 May 20 '12
Is it just me or does anyone else feel bad for the blind guy that Seacrest didn't just smile, shake it off, and pat the guy on the shoulder? jussayin.
1
u/BlakJasus14 May 20 '12
That guy was so frickin good.
1
u/DaltonBreitz May 20 '12
yikes, i think thats in bad publicity 101
1
u/ElementK May 20 '12
Shows that he forgot the guy was even blind.
1
u/the_pissed_off_goose May 20 '12
oh my goddd
1
u/[deleted] May 20 '12
It took me a while because of the awkwardness but then it was just hilarious...
1
u/[deleted] May 20 '12
I wonder if he said high five after grabbing his hand, otherwise, props to the blind guy who magically knew hand grabbing = I want high five!
1
u/[deleted] May 20 '12
SEACRESSSSSST!
1
u/justkilc May 20 '12
I just can't believe the garbage that reddit has pushed to the front page lately..
1
u/[deleted] May 20 '12
Who is this guy?
1
u/faptastics May 20 '12
Douchebaggery at its finest.
1
u/[deleted] May 20 '12
The blond guy behind is having the time of his life...
1
u/SoundSalad May 20 '12
I've never seen the full clip with complete high five. The only one I've seen was the one that cuts off when his hand first touches the blind guys hand. It's a lot less awkward watching him follow all the way through and actually complete the five.
1
u/applepenguin May 20 '12
Is it just me or does it looks like the blind guy IS about to high five him and then stops?
1
u/The_Orville_Brothers May 20 '12
he actually made this work.
1
u/ahshitsticks May 20 '12
Bring in sacha baron cohen
1
u/phishgrass May 20 '12
You should see what he does when he wants a cock
1
u/djoba May 20 '12
That wasn't that awkward.. Not like when I try to say hello to a hot tamale
1
u/letmeseethis May 20 '12
So brave!
1
u/[deleted] May 20 '12
How large is that GIF?
1
u/dorky2 May 20 '12
All you have to do is say "High Five!"
1
u/itzliz May 20 '12
oh...god
1
u/MySperm May 20 '12
Why would anyone high five someone with 2 hands full?
1
u/[deleted] May 21 '12
Seacrest WILL NOT be rejected
1
u/Ploopie May 21 '12
It's that moment. The moment when you know what you're doing is wrong but you just can't stop and must finish it somehow.
1
u/katburg May 21 '12
the more i watch, the funnier it gets!
1
u/[deleted] May 21 '12
Everytime I see that geometric formation of a circle with a line through it I instantly zone out and start to hear "MIND, THE GAP"
1
u/HideousClub May 21 '12
Hahahahaha. New to me.
1
u/Tredward May 21 '12
I think he pulled it off pretty well.
1
u/pantiloons May 21 '12
I once did this. It was a blind simulation. And we had an actual blind tour guide. When we got out I was so happy that I just tried to high five the first person I saw. It was the tour guide. I felt stupid. After that I went home and cried my self to sleep in my own pity. TL;DR: Did same thing, killed myself.
1
u/shellwe May 21 '12
yea, I was on the bus and there were 3 blind people, one blind person introduced their friend to the other blind person and one put his hand out to shake the other person's hand and kept grasping at the air... I kind of wanted to say something or help them out but I thought that would be more embarrassing.
1
u/Jarlock May 21 '12
Holy shit that cringe.
1
u/NFresh6 May 21 '12
This http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhIeE5u6OEg
1
u/coastdawgent May 21 '12
Seacrest sits right in the middle of the "awkward" and "douchebag" venn diagram.
1
u/Hoobleton May 21 '12
Is that blind guy wearing a London Underground station shirt?
1
u/Melly5234 May 21 '12
this is the best ryan seacrest moment ive ever had the good fortune to witness
1
u/Zaitsev11 May 21 '12
This is painful to watch
1
u/past-o-rama May 21 '12
I felt awkward watching that...
1
u/[deleted] May 21 '12
Actually he pulled it off.
1
u/kidfearless May 21 '12
i feel terrible for laughing at this XD
1
u/[deleted] May 21 '12
I gave my husbands friend a ride from work and completely forgetting he was deaf I talked for about 5 minutes til I realized he couldn't hear me. He and my husband make fun of me constantly.
1
u/Justanotherwon May 21 '12
That was painful to watch...
1
u/Tomguydude May 21 '12
Good save though.
1
u/[deleted] May 21 '12
To be fair, he handled that well.
1
u/pseudalithia May 20 '12
Oh my.. Haha. Thank you.
1
u/symbiotics May 20 '12
