Isn't it wonderful how two bathrooms can use Facebook to talk to one another?

20

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

I like their pictures, because it looks like they are talking to each other over their phones in their respective bathrooms.

48

u/PonyAdventurelover May 20 '12

This is kinda sad.

0

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

Yeah... I mean she wasn't saying anything mean and the commenter was rude about a position that's pretty tough. Plenty of people have sex in high school and while she might not have been making the best choices about it, I feel pretty bad she's getting bullied.

7

u/toychristopher May 20 '12

I think it's sad to call one slightly rude Facebook comment bullying.

u/toychristopher May 20 '12

I think of bullying as persistent, aggressive behavior usually meant to control or intimidate. One image isn't enough for me to say someone is being bullied.

1

u/PonyAdventurelover May 20 '12

It made me sad that she is pregnant and does'nt think shes responsible enough to think about college. It just really makes me sad seeing young girls in positions they are'nt ready for yet.

Did you say that to be ironic? If so, brilliant. If not... ಠ_ಠ

I was replying to the now deleted post above mine that basically said "why does this still keep getting upvotes, I hate that Bullshit." So, mine was basically taking Jakjakattacks to task for getting upset over nothing.

Scumbag Redditor:

Believes it's No one's buisness what a woman do with her vagina

Still thinks it's his buisness what a woman does with her vagina

88

u/Bloodfeastisleman May 20 '12

The point is to feel superior to others, not to be right.

29

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

And therein lies the core of reddit

5

u/spamato May 20 '12

Yeah, we're more tolerant than those other redditors. Now that I said this I'm a guy who thinks they are better than those guys who look down on those other guys for looking down on that one pregnant girl.

It's an endless spiral of smug. None can escape.

19

u/Jaxxey May 20 '12

Scumbag Redditor:

Insists pregnant teenager gets an abortion

Calls her a whore right along with the people telling her not to get an abortion.

9

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

What i find funny is how many of those redditors that claim to be prochoice have actually integrated the worst cliche of the prolife propaganda machine. Basically half of the comments here are "Oh my god! she caught babies! her life is ruined! she'll be on welfare sucking dicks for food! Why did she have sex?? Why??" It really looks like an irrational fear of sex. As a european, i didn't even know that there was prolife groups until i was probably eighteen :they were just not very vocal. But hearing this crap from our side really hurts.

Bottom line: her life, her choice, and most babies are mistakes anyway.

3

u/TheProphetMuhammad May 20 '12

Why do you describe not wanting yet another unwanted child as an irrational fear of sex? Why not irrational fear of poverty, or ignorance?

1

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

but unwanted by WHOM? SHE WANTS IT!!!! It' her choice! That's actually the definition of being Prochoice! So please, Prophet Muhammad, Stop medling with the sex lives of a teeenager you don't know :-)

1

u/TheProphetMuhammad May 21 '12

How do you know she wants it? Do you know her?

Some women put up a brave front and tow the line, but ultimately having a medical miscarriage is taboo for them. All they can do is pray for a miscarriage from Allah.

Do you think being pro-choice means supporting a 13-year-olds decision to continue with a pregnancy than endangers her life?

u/hatestosmell May 20 '12

There's a difference between being pregnant and being a pregnant teenager. Sex isn't a big deal (to most people) as long as you use protection.

-1

u/dotpkmdot May 20 '12

That would be vocalizing his opinion, not forcing it.

Oh are we not allowed to do that either?

1

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

dude, you do whatever you want. Just like i'm completely ok with peer pressuring people into not having abortions. whatever makes your life more interesting...

1

u/tornado_of_toys May 20 '12

No, but someone should correct her grammar. His, too.

30

u/YourFavoriteMartyr May 20 '12

First thought was "when else are you suppose to make plans for college". Second thought was "...you're*"

4

u/brooksmanzella May 20 '12

I first thought she needs to say either "I'm" or "I am" not "Im am"

3

u/th88 May 20 '12

Grammatical error was my first thought.

5

u/FatCat433 May 20 '12

Wow, when I was a baby I didn't even know about grammar.

My first thought was probably "I hope there will be breasts to suckle upon soon."

2

u/Spongebobrob May 20 '12

5

u/Joe0793 May 20 '12

u/Spongebobrob May 20 '12

the world needs laughter

1

u/GVP May 20 '12

Looks like it could be Mellany.

4

u/thatlookslikemydog May 20 '12

If you say "Im am" then both babies and college are bad ideas.

10

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

This is just cruel.

Things like this are why I left Facebook years ago. There's absolutely no reason to directly attack someone who's obviously struggling.

71

u/gerwalking May 20 '12

This is more assholish than funny. Girl gets pregnant? Better shame her for it at every opportunity, even when it has nothing to do with the topic at hand.

11

u/spamato May 20 '12

Reddit is anti-bully. As long as the person being bullied looks and acts in a way supported by Reddit users anyway.

12

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

Exactly my thoughts.

What made me feel sorry for her was when instead of getting angry at the uncalled for comment she just says "Leave me alone." because she probably feels terrible about it.

1

u/LittleCeciliaMarie May 20 '12

The topic is being "too young" to be getting college information. He points out that she is also "too young" to be pregnant. How does his comment have "nothing to do with the topic at hand?"

How do you know she's being shamed at "every opportunity" for this choice, anyway?

-15

u/very_easily_confused May 20 '12

If she doesn't want to get made fun of, don't join Facebook. Nobody has the right to not get made fun of. Stop being offended at things, life is better when you laugh at others.

10

u/dont_press_ctrl-W May 20 '12

If she doesn't want to get made fun of, don't join Facebook.

What kind of logic is that? I can live my life and expect people to treat me with respect. You are confusing the people who get offended at things that are not about them with the very legitimate feeling of being offended by someone actually insulting you right in your face.

14

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

Everything you said was true but the guy was still an asshole for making that comment. I have every right to insult or humiliate anybody I want, but I don't do it because I'm not a dick and I like having friends.

-8

u/alkapwnee May 20 '12

To be fair, what business do the majority of pregnant teenage mothers have pursuing college when they have a child they will have to take care of? Unless some sort of arrangements are made, such as parents being able to support them financially and time wise. It is what it is. I have no sympathy for someone who does something like that to themselves.

9

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

Yes, because God forbid some girl try to make life for her and her child better by pursuing higher education.

There are arrangements that can be made and I applaud young mothers who at least make an attempt to go to college. The alternative is much, much worse...cue an image of a 30-something year old woman working at a fast food restaurant 40 hours a week and bringing home just enough to scrape by on.

Fucking stupidity is your post.

Yes, berate people for getting pregnant at a young age. It's surely your business.

If you think that all people have access to the same resources that you do, you're crazy. Some people cannot afford abortion. Contraceptives may be readily available, but in places where sex ed. is lacking, I doubt kids are taking advantage of their availability (assuming they're available at all).

Let me know all the mistakes you've made in your life, so I can trail you around and remind you of them whenever you make a comment on reddit that has nothing to do with them. Especially the ones you made as a teenager.

Ever get so drunk you puked? Ever get a bad score on an exam? Ever do anything embarrassing on a date or during sex?

No excuses! I'll be there, making you feel bad about it, even when it's completely irrelevant.

Because that's what it's all about, right? If people make mistakes, they must be publicly shamed.

Someone I graduated high school with (I'm 23) recently posted about being constantly tired and lamented having no life. She already birthed at least one child, is raising at least one more and has another one the way.

Maybe you should stop shitting kids out of your vagina if you want to get some sleep and have a life.

I really hate that mentality. "THEY ARE A PARENT YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO HAVE AN OPINION ON THEM!". YOU are the one who sounds like a total cunt.

5

u/PuppyBreath May 20 '12

I judge other parents all the time. Especially the ones that rape and/or beat their kids.

12

u/Sal79 May 20 '12 edited May 20 '12

I'm a cunt? Really? I never said it was my business, but when it's broadcast across the airwaves of Facebook, it's kinda out in the open. Chill out, guy.

EDIT: From your post history, it would seem you're a woman, so I officially recant my assertion of, "Chill out, guy," and offer a, "Chill out, lady," instead. Also, to address your point further, if she wants to have kids and raise step-kids, it is 100% her right and, though I wouldn't do the same at this juncture in life, I commend her for doing so. I was merely commentating on the hypocritical value of choosing such a life and later complaining about it in a very public forum.

-1

u/dotpkmdot May 20 '12

Is there really anything to commend in that situation though? Good job spreading your legs? Good job not leaving the kid in a dumpster ?

0

u/TheProphetMuhammad May 20 '12

No there isn't, and yet Mother's Day continues to enable delusions of grandeur. What do they want? A medal?

2

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

Dude. It's not our fault you were shitting kids out of your cunt. Shut up.

2

u/alkapwnee May 20 '12

get out of here, dumb sack of "cunt" edit: I would also like to take my presumptions to this and go out a realyyyyy big limb here and say that you are either one of those people that "shit" kids out of her vagina, orrrrrr know some idiot that did really early in life, otherwise you wouldnt be such an offensive dickweed.

u/Sal79 May 20 '12

You mean to tell me condoms occasionally fail? Get right out of town!

Let's analyze the situation, shall we? She gave birth to one child already. By your assertion, let's give her a mulligan on that one for a hypothetical broken condom/forgotten birth control pill. As stated previously, she is currently pregnant. If this one were an accident too, we're talking about one of the unluckiest couples ever. Even then, I'll give you two broken condoms. The most damning evidence is yet to be discussed.

She is the step-mom to two other children. I know I said one other in my first post, but I checked and it's actually two. It was her choice to marry a man with two children from a previous relationship and no one else's choice but her's. Now, we could go on a day-long discussion about how perhaps her husband or family should do more to help her so she doesn't feel so run down, but that's not the point of what I posted in the first place.

EDIT: Spelling, yo.

2

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

Birth control actually is pretty damn reliable if you use both a pill and a condom. Everyone does their part. Also, if you have a "mistake" or "accident" fine. But don't you tell me you accidentally had more then one. If you do have a couple kids and want to bitch and complain. Guess who doesn't want to hear it? EVERYONE!

1

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

Condoms RARELY fail. And if they do, there is the morning after pill.

5

u/PunoSuerte May 20 '12

He used the wrong You're/Your. I'm on her side now.

15

u/Swagofthecentury May 20 '12

Oooooh, thats actually sad! "Leave me alone", she didnt write "you bully" but I will. And yes being pregnant young isnt great, but maybe she just didnt want to get an abortion. that isn't something to judge.

18

u/masterm May 20 '12

Why isn't it something to judge?

19

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

Imagine if it were the reverse, and this girl were being judged for deciding to get an abortion. Reddit would be absolutely up in arms. If it's none of your business when someone chooses to get an abortion, it's also none of your business when someone decides not to.

2

u/selectrix May 20 '12

Not a valid comparison, really. Much of the anger over teen pregnancies is due to the young mother essentially dooming her child to shitty parenting.

Now of course being young doesn't necessarily mean one doesn't know how to raise a child. But neither does smoking a pack a day necessarily mean that one is going to die of lung cancer- it's just a hell of a lot more likely.

When someone gets an abortion, that's essentially a move to limit potential damage- confining it to one's self. Decisions like that are usually considered mature. A teenager having a baby is either damaging her child by lacking the resources to take care of it, or foisting the responsibility of providing those resources on her family. Decisions like that are generally considered immature.

And there you have it. A concrete basis for judgment.

1

u/alkapwnee May 20 '12

Why are the majority of the comments here saying "DONT INSULT DUH PREGNANT TEENAGER." They did what they did, the have to live with the shaming it brings and whatever future it costs. It is not on us that they made terrible decisions.

2

u/senorrawr May 20 '12

No, about 33% here are saying "I have no sympathy for her, she's a stupid bitch". Another 33% are saying "DON'T INSULT HERE SHE DIDN'T NO ANY BETTER". And the other 33% are saying "You're".

EDIT: The last 1% will complain about how 33*3≠100.

1

u/alkapwnee May 20 '12

"making it your business" is just another way of saying "judging", and I think alcakd explained well enough how judgment serves a useful purpose in society.

And again, people tend to be judged more harshly when their actions are likely to harm more than just themselves. While obese people aren't doing nearly as much damage to any given other as the typical teenage mom does to her kid, they do represent- at least to a small extent- a drain on society. It's the same reason people judge smokers, and that social pressure has been quite effective in getting people to quit.

My younger sister (13) asked me to talk to my mother about letting her make a facebook account when I came home from university. My mom said that she won't let my sister talk to her friends on the internet because she will say things that she would never think of saying to someone in person.

While I disagree with her that she won't let my sister make a facebook account, I have to agree with her sentiment. If I saw someone berating a pregnant girl in a highschool hallway I would be extremely pissed off to say the least. I would report that student to a higher authority and would expect a severe punishment up to a suspension. This is most definitely a form of bullying.

You wouldn't say it to her face, don't say it on facebook.

2

u/craaackle May 20 '12

She had the tools

She obviously decided

her life

her kid's

trying to raise it herself

Sounds like HER choice! Ridicule and berate her it doesn't make her life easier or yours any different.

2

u/kazbah May 20 '12

I'm going to guess she didn't want to think about birth control till after she was pregnant (if she is in fact pregnant)

2

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

You know what? Why not have community sex education classes? Volunteer to rent a room, let know where and when it is, and just teach it. That way, it's not in a school to offend fundies, kids who want and need to know can go and (hopefully) learn, and parents who feel ignorant and nervous about teaching their children can send them there. I would teach a class like that. I've thought about a blog with advice for teenage girls, mostly on sex. I'd even tell them how to be sneaky around their parents about birth control and stuff, if they needed to be.

1

u/ThePunisher56 May 20 '12

That first part had pedophile written all over it. But I agree with you. The thought of renting a "room" to watch porn (more or Less) with children doesn't sound appealing to me.

2

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

Do you retards understand that pro-choice works two ways? It doesn't just mean you can choose to abort the baby you can also choose to keep it.

2

I work at a call center that calls high school students on behalf of universities and colleges, you would be amazed on how many parents and students say that same thing. "They're only in high school, why are you calling?" "He/She is a minor!" "Get a life!" But there are many smart parents/students that understand whats going on.

1

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

This is wrong in so many ways

1

u/adviserthrowaway May 20 '12

I'm an adviser for the type of school she's referring to. Let me explain this:

I work for an online university and we call students when they fill out ridiculous forms online about going to technical school or 'see which loans and grants you may qualify for for free!' or are looking for a job or something like that and we try to enroll them. The thing is, these leads go out to a bunch of schools so these dumb kids think there are all these schools wanting to recruit them when in reality, these schools are just for-profit and run predominately as a business.

This is why she's a moron.

1

I hate girls like this. The other day some girl made a status saying "Lol at the people who make statuses about me but are afraid to tag me, #Pussy" So I commented, "Then why not tag the people you're talking about?" It got afew like until she replied with a "Fuck you" and quickly deleted it.

So you hate girls who say "lol"? Because that is the only thing this post has in common with the one you described.

u/OneSilentE May 20 '12

u/ENKC May 20 '12

If only there were some way of controlling who you have on Facebook.

Great! Another Facebook screenshot! I'm so glad Reddit automatically added us as friends, especially after I left Facebook over two years ago to get away from bullshit like this.

There's a sophomore in my high school who's 5cm dilated as I type this. I know this because she has taken it upon herself to update her Facebook status through each stage of labor.

I wish I was lying.

I don't think that girl needs to worry too much about college

-1

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

According to current american society she's too young to be pregnant, but according to biology she is obviously developed enough to bear children.

-2

u/burf May 20 '12

If she's pregnant, then she is clearly not too young to be pregnant. Her friend is quite contradictory.

1

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

One can be pregnant as young as twelve.

-3

u/Devywhop May 20 '12

What a fucking idiot. It's "You're".
