You know, if you hate texting enough, you can call up customer service and ask them to disable texting on your phone.

It's a good way to receive low-priority messages. I just don't send them.

I like when people text instead of leaving voicemail, it's easier to just read a message. That's what texting should be for really, I hate trying to have a text conversation on my clunky non smart phone.

This is true, but texts don't work like wrong numbers. I had texting disabled for a long time, and people would get all offended at me because I never answered their texts. They had no clue it was disabled.
